Conveniently located within a 4-5 minute walk from the S and U Bahn Stations, this hotel is convenient to reach from both Schonfeld & Tegel airports (Berlin's new airport was not yet operational when we were traveling). It is about 45 minutes (bus + U-Bahn) from Schonfeld and 16 minutes (bus) from Tegel. If your flight out of Tegel is before 7:00AM, it's safer to take a taxi as the earliest direct bus will put you at the airport right around 6:00AM, which would cut it close, especially if they're stringent with check-in times that day. The taxi is convenient - tell the reception desk the night before (definitely tell them before 10:00PM), and they will call and reserve a taxi for you for the next morning. The taxi will be there on time, and it takes about 10-12 minutes. Cost is about 13 Euros.
The hotel itself was very nice, and the area is very safe. The rooms were very clean, and most of the ladies at the reception desk were very pleasant and helpful. When we mentioned that we were leaving early in the morning, they packed us breakfast the night before!
We had requested a double room, expecting a large bed or at least 2 beds joined together (as we had seen at other locations), but what we got were 2 beds separated by a nightstand. Not too bad, but it was a little odd.
Be aware that the front desk and exterior doors are locked at 11:00PM - they might in fact be locked a few minutes before that. While checking in, you are given the required keys to get in through a service entrance, and a detailed walk through of what doors and keys to use if you return after 11:00PM - very helpful and much appreciated. If you're checking in any time after 10:00PM, I recommend you call/email them beforehand to make the required arrangements. Also, if you're leaving before they open up in the morning, make sure to let them know the night before. You can drop off your keys at a designated spot.
The breakfast is light, but excellent!! Standard continental fare, but they also have a couple of fresh items such as tomatoes with mozzarella and some variation of an egg salad.
The hotel is pretty well located to the city center (a.k.a., the 'main attractions'). The Brandenburg Gate is about 10-15 minutes by the S-Bahn. Bear in mind that Berlin is a big city and you will likely need to use their public transport to get to places. We love walking in cities we visit, but were glad to have the transit pass. With that in mind, 10-15 minutes by trains to the major attractions was reasonable.
The hotel is located in a very nice neighborhood. There are plenty of cheap/street food options (curry wurst, donor kebaps, etc) as well as excellent (yet inexpensive) restaurants within a 5-minute walk from the restaurant. The one we tried was "Leonhardt", and it was fantastic - if possible, sit on the patio.

There is a U-bahn station (Wilmersdorfer Strasse) 5 min' walk away and an S-bahn station (Berlin-Charlottenberg) 2 mins' walk away. There's also a bus from Wilmersdorfer Strasse station to the Zoologicher Garten station. I paid €57.5 and 47.5 respectively for the double and single room. My friends' double rooms were in a small house, separated from the main building through a small courtyard, with 2 separate double rooms. I thought it was lovely but they said it was too cold at night and they had to climb up and down the stairs to the bedroom. The temperature in the single room was just fine. The bathroom was very small so I had to dry myself in the bedroom instead of the bathroom. The shower was very old and the water was difficult to adjust. It takes rather long to get to the right temperature. My friends in the separate house said the water said they were subjected to automatic alternating hot/cold water shower.

I came to Berlin for a business meeting and my hotel was paid for 3 days but wanted to come a bit early to see the city and stay a bit longer so for extra days, I booked myself to hotel Adam based on location (near public transport), good customer reviews and affordability.

First impressions: Not great. After being dropped here by the taxi driver from the airport, he warned me to be very careful as this is a red light district, but he insisted that the streets were safe to walk especially during the day. Filled with curiosity, I decided to take a walk after checking in and immediately outside the hotel there were three girls giving me a wink! I however walked down the street past the Berlin Charlottenburg train station with no bother at all. The streets were quiet and few individuals that were seen were either coming from the train station in a relaxed mode or shopping at a nearby convenience store, not a threatening atmosphere at all given this time of the evening 2100hrs.

Corridors: Clean and well secured by a door and a key. Needs care when moving from one corridor to another, as there seem to be a ‘step’ after each door.

Rooms: Clean and very basic, a single bed with a pillow and a duvet, a small table and chair. A small CR TV hanging over, a small sink, a mirror and a wardrobe. The bed is okay but would not call it comfortable but one shouldn’t expect too much at this price.

Breakfast: Served downstairs after a few corridor and few turns downward. This was a small room with small tables. Buffet breakfast has a few selections of bread, butter, ham, cheese, eggs, frankfurters, cereal, juice and coffee. People sat around these small tables happily enjoying their breakfast.

Facilities: Central heating radiator in place, hot water available from the tap, extension cable fitted for charging you gadgets. The small TV is outdated but has a remote control and many channels in German except BBC news and CNN. From where it hangs one is likely to have a neck ache if watched for over an hour. The communal toilet next door and a communal shower at the other end of the corridor, both clean but still communal.

Conclusion: This is a simple accommodation fit for resting your head after a busy day in Berlin. It looks secure and easy access to the public transport. I would however not recommend it for family with children or business trip, which requires you to work/write at night. On balance, for what you pay for and given the area, it is good value for money and after all, the basic things in life are really very simple.

This hotel is ideal as a base for exploring Berlin as it is right beside S-Bahn and U-Bahn stations. Rooms are very basic (no hairdryer or fridge) but breakfast is great and served until 10.00am. Pick up one of the free maps from reception - they cover the whole of Berlin and are very detailed so invaluable for getting around.

Good staff, speaks Russian. Breakfast is good (ham, sausage, cheese, eggs vegetables), well-served, with soul. I feeled like home. Close from Tegel airport, 20 minutes by bus 109. Bus stop is in front of the hotel. Good connection with the city centre. It takes 15 min. S-Bahn stop is in a 5 minutes walk. Direct S-Bahn line to Potsdam. Good price. Clean room (#29). There are lots of shops around.
No lift. No hairdryer in the room. Lack of hangers in the cupboard. Only three for 2 persons.

Hotel Adam was in a great location 3 minutes from Charlottenburgh S Bahn station. The rooms were clean and well decorated. Good security with a locked Courtyard. The staff were excellent and friendly staying late to let me in after a late flight and helping with my luggage storage at the end of my stay. Breakfast was a feast and very enjoyable .
Highly recommended!

Room Tip: Nice kebab shop for coffee next door Left and brilliant Italian pizza and pasta close by.
