While in Berlin, my partner and I stayed in the IBIS Potsdamer Platz in Berlin's Mitte area. Just like all IBIS Hotels we stayed in during our Central and Eastern European vacation, It was small by American standards and the amenities very basic. However, the hotel was well located and our room more than adequate. We walked to many sights like Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin Wall, The Sony Center, the Tiergarten, etc. The Anhalter subway station was the closest subway stop to the hotel. There were two towels provided in the bathroom and there was liquid soap for hair, body, and hand wash by the sink and inside the shower stall. Overall, the room was very clean. What I found the least desirable about our room was its airconditioning. It was quite weak. In fact, the moment we went inside the room and turned the airconditioning on, very little cold air blew out of the unit. We immediately requested a change of room, but the lady at the front desk went up to our room to check and advised us to wait a few minutes. It did get cooler but just a little bit. It was a minor issue for us during our five night stay here. We just wished it got a little cooler but we didn't sweat on any night either. The biggest attraction this hotel had besides its location was its price. It was quite inexpensive.

For all those in search of an even cheaper accomodation, right next to this IBIS hotel was the hotel's IBIS Budget chain called ETAP. IT was literally right next door to our regular priced IBIS hotel and it charged 10 euros less than what we paid for our room. Of course, the IBIS Budget Hotel room was going to be even smaller but check their website anyway should you be interested. It was very popular among students and other budget minded travelers.

I really was very happy with the IBIS Chain of Hotels. It helped us limit our expenses to the minimum with regards accomodation. I never thought Europe could be affordable given the weakness of the US Dollar these days.

We had an adequate stay. The hotel is easy to find from Anhalter station. Nothing exceptional about the room. We would have appreciated a kettle and tea making facilities. The breakfast was good and if you could enjoy it heartily was worth the 10 euro's.

a great place to stay on a budget -- so close to the s-bahn and u-bahn, just steps away from historic areas (checkpoint charlie, niederkirchner street and a large section of the berlin wall, and the topographie des terrors museum) and potsdamer platz.

rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. food in the restaurant is tasty and not tooo expensive. wifi, however, is pricey, at 9 euro for 24 hours. it's free in the lobby area, but if you are trying to get any work done while staying at the hotel, it's a bit awkward to spend all your time there since the area is small and not conducive to serious working.

This hotel is not air conditioned. The hotel was advertised as air conditioned, and we selected the hotel for this reason. Upon arrival, however, we switched on the air conditioning only to find out it was turned off in the entire hotel because according to the front desk, the hotel is only air conditioned when the outside temperature reaches 20C (the temperature was in fact above 20C). Additionally, the window only opens a few centimeters and was unable to provide adequate ventilation throughout the night. If that wasn't enough, the constant street noise, including buses and motorcycles made it hard to sleep. I immediately requested a room change to face the back of the hotel upon learning of the air conditioning problem. The hotel, however, refused to change our room until the next day. There is no excuse falsely advertising that the room was air conditioned, and no justification for turning on the air conditioning for only a short period each day.

On the positive side, there are a number of reasonably priced restaurants in the area, including a 3.90 all you can eat breakfast buffet on Stresemannstraße across from the Holiday Inn Express. You can't miss the banner hanging from the window. http://www.wirtshaus-hasenheide.de/fruehstueck_en.htm. Also, the Anhalter S Bahn is also conveniently located less than a block away from the hotel.

Room Tip: Request a room facing the rear of the hotel as it is much quieter with the window open

Berlin Wall, Check point Charlie just down the road, this Hotel has a great location. Downstairs bar and breakfast was very good. Only downside was the cost of Wifi in the rooms, however internet is provided free in the lobby. Airconditioning was very confortable in the Berlin summer too!

This hotel is very close to S-Bahn station Anhalter Bahnhof. And it's better decision to find hotel. Postdamer Platz is far from hotel: 2-3 bus stop or 1 S-Bahn stop or 15-20 min walk.

Near S-bahn there are 2-3 bars - you can drink beer till midnight and get most better and cheaper breackfast from 8a.m.

Room - Ibis standard.

Room Tip: All rooms are good
