“Now this is how to clean a hotel”

This is a bare bones hotel that is spotless and soundproof. Even though right next to train station it is perfectly quiet. Its such a great deal to get a free public transportation card with your stay, really came in handy. The other great thing about these hotels is that you know once you get off the train you can walk to the hotel without having to get a cab. I would have liked to have had a coffee pot or water boiler in the room but can live without it as long as the place is so clean.

This hotel is new, and located a few hundred metres from the main railway station. Good rooms, good value.

However, check-in was fairly slow; and from my room there was a surprising amount of noise audible from the busy road outside. The breakfast room was very congested when it was busy.

The location is great for business - right next door to central station that has loads of facilities beyond lots of trains.

Hotel is 4 star and even taking into account that Berlin is one of cheaper German cities for hotel accommodation, it is still superb value.

The room was nice, bathroom was spacious with a shower cubical. Bed was comfy, good pillows, a work desk and good cupboard space. Very peaceful, no noise from corridor or railway station.

Staff very helpful, loaned me an adaptor as my one broke.

90 Euros - there is nothing to complain about. I would stay here for business or leisure in a heart beat.

It is a stripped hotel in some ways, but I missed nothing that was missing.

Room Tip: I had a room facing the street and a building site - I heard nothing.

The location of the hotel is very convenient - ideal if you arrive late at the mainstation (Hauptbahnof) - if you take the right exit it is only 3 minute walk - tops. There are many places within walking distance: Unter den Linden, Reichstag, Brandenburger Tor are just some of them. At the trainstation you can go to other parts easy with the tram and metro as well and the hotel offers a free transportation ticket for you during your stay for areas A, B and C (covering a LOT of trips you will want to make). The WiFi is free, but very slow and unstable. Not good if you are there for business, but well for private use it will do.
We didn´t choose to get breakfast here as there are so many backeries and restaurants nearby - within 10 minutes the metro takes you to Haeckeser Markt for instance, where you can get a great breakfast in many restaurants. We did have drinks in the bar - service was good but prices were a little high we thought. Still, if you arrive late it is nice that they have this service!

Room Tip: If you want to have the window open, as for a room at the inside of the hotel! In the rooms that are...

My wife and I enjoyed staying at the new InterCityHotel Berlin Hauptbahnhof from 9th to 10th October 2013.

The location is excellent, just a few hundred meters from the main entrance of Berlin Hauptbahnhof (Central Station). Convenient when arriving and leaving by train. But also convenient for air travellers to and from the airports of Tegel and Schönefeld.

This hotel offers free tickets on public ttransportation within Berlin and Potsdam on the day of arrival and on the day of departure as well. Starting up on 1st October 2013, the hotel has good Internet prices of 99 Euro per night including buffet breakfast. The breakfast room is typical "German style" for middle class hotels. Efficient and reliable service. Lots of hot food available for breakfast. Coffee pot on the table upon arrival. A bit boring, perhaps, but still just what many need and would prefer for breakfast.

The formalities at check-in and check-out were handled very efficiently. Lots of conference guest around, they seemed to enjoy the service and efficiency. The rooms are standard, still what you would come to expect of an InterCityHotel in Germany. Lots of German and international TV channels available. A good and practical writing desk. Many windows with view to the railway station area, still calm and peaceful.

A good choice for travellers to Berlin !

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the railway station area !

This new InterCity hotel located adjacent to Berlin BHF (main railway station) is really in an exceptionally good location.

Room rates are OK - but, if having to pay for the self-service breakfast too, maybe the rate may not be so attractive, because breakfast is only just adequate. Perhaps, because the staff are all newly recruited, you can forgive the sloppy service (or lack of it) during breakfast. Tables are not cleared, thus adding to the congestion and disorder (sometimes) in the morning. Staff prefer to chat amongst themselves and totally ignore requests from their customers! Maybe a bit more training is needed in this area? It would be nice (at least) to be shown to a clean table.

Reception staff (although mechanically polite) fail to make the guest feel welcome. Definitely no smiles or "chit chat" from these receptionists. Unfortunately, their efficiency is also questionable - lots of mistakes on our bill - and even the simplest of compilations was not met with ease here. (I get the feeling that the reception staff were thrown in at the deep end and are just muddling through.)

The public areas are good and nicely decorated - very simplistic in style.

The restaurant is adequate with a fair menu for this grade of hotel, albeit a bit overpriced - but the service here is very friendly and efficient.

The bar staff too are friendly and efficient.

The rooms are good - style and décor is good. Beds are comfortable. Pillows are awful. One pillow per bed - so you have to request more pillows from reception.

The air-conditioning is a BIG, BIG problem at this hotel...

Although the air-con is working (it's quite noisy) it doesn't throw out much cool air. I can't imagine how anyone would be able to sleep at all here in the summer months, because I woke up on numerous occasions each night (5 nights) "sweating like a pig" in October. Windows, which can be opened very slightly, let in the noise from the railway station - so this is not an option. The company needs to sort this out because, if they don't, I can't see them having any repeat clients.

Bathrooms were very good. No bath - but a very good shower. Towels, on the other hand, were of poor quality and only the size of a very small bath towel - no bath sheets at this hotel! Toiletries were minimal - one "on the wall" bottle in the shower and one near the washbasin.

The lack of tea and coffee making facilities was a nuisance.

Hotel security was very good. Key-cards had to be used in the lift: (Swipe the key-card in the slot provided and punch in your floor number.)

Lifts were big and efficient - no waiting around for the lift.

The crowning glory of this hotel is that it gives you (on arrival) a transport ticket for use in Berlin - Zones A, B & C. This is a definite positive for tourists - although maybe not so attractive for business travellers (?)

Maybe, because the hotel is so new, there are some teething problems - but the company needs to iron these out as soon as possible.

All in all, there are many positives for this hotel - but the air-con problems over-ride these positives and, until they are sorted out, I would (sadly) not recommend staying here.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and it has a great location for sightseeing and is reasonably priced especially as they give you a transport pass that can take you out to Potsdam. The hotel is new and the air conditioning is poor/ not working properly and the reception team are aware of this and they act like it doesn't matter - you can't open the windows as you are by the station and its noisy - so yes it does matter.

Breakfast is self service with a good selection of food but the waiting staff struggle clearing the tables

Am sure once they are open a bit longer they will have ironed out the issues as this could be a great place to stay

Room Tip: Request a room that faces inwards so you can open the windows
