Reviewed August 27, 2013

Hazel rarely gets accommodation choices wrong. Even by her high standards she excelled last weekend. With 6 rooms and a 9/10 location their "more Home, less Hotel" strap-line could not be more relevant. Bodo and Antonio made our stay.
We arrived from Schonefeld close to midnight on Friday (tip: 6 of you in a taxi for €50 well worth it).
No problem. Bodo welcomed us like long lost friends.
Chemist? No problem. Metre perfect instructions.
Breakfast included? No - but the Woolworth sweet counter approach. Perfect. Rosemary smoked ham, a couple of cheeses and pumpkin seed rolls spot on - for me. Excellent coffee.
Rooms? large, spacious and as commented upon elsewhere - bathrooms of a quality us Brits would have to save up for, for a long time!
We were in room 1 - a fridge would have been nice. But a walk in shower to die for.
Rooms 2 and 3 (also on level one and occupied by Dangerous and Carell) both very different - but individually characterised, stunning en suites - and to note - very deep baths.
Want armchairs - room 3 ; 100 drawers for your bits and pieces? Book room 2.
Value. Excellent. But don't tell them!
Location? For us on a 3 day break - perfect (note - the flea market is nearer 500m than 50, but who cares!). The Overground-Underground U-Bahn stop of Eberswalder Strasse is 250m left out of the front door. Three stops Alexanderplatz and you are off.
The chaps have been operating "Linnen" for around a year. We love it.
Next time we return - is a no brainer. Same again please
Vielen, herzlichen Dank :)

Room Tip: its worth checking your room has a fridge

There was no air conditioning or fans. Opening the windows at night meant hearing all the outside noise and its on a busy street. We had the suite which only had a tub and no shower. Door to get inside the building was tricky and difficult to open. Location is ok, about a block to the U-Bahn, then about 15 minutes to city center.

'More home, less hotel' is Linnen's slogan. It's true. A beautiful, charming, clean home with lovely hosts, delicious breakfast (e.g. müsli with yoghurt and fruit) and sublime beds. Room Four with the wooden wall is quit and cosy. Perfect for one (or two) person(s).

we stayed 3 nights in Linnen Berlin and enjoyed it very much. Linnen team was gracious, friendly, and welcoming. comfy and quiet room, with just right pillows and yummy towels. the location could not be better for reaching fast all city attractions. for us, it's Linnen again for our next visit to Berlin.

We spent four days at the Linnen last week and I still can't believe how amazing it was for the price we paid. It is seriously 5 star quality accommodation. Gorgeous bathrooms - all sandstone and expensive looking features. Lovely original features everywhere with a palette of chocolate cream and aubergine and wood. Really comfortable beds with luxurious linen. And everywhere around both rooms and cafe are quirky items put to new use and reclaimed and restored pieces of furniture - church pews as shelves, massive industrial lights lining the walls, a cafe where no two chairs are the same but all seem to match.

The owners/managers are lovely, speak English and are on hand to advise on where to go and how to get there, although they are busy with the cafe all day, especially on Sundays because of the Mauerpark flea market 50m down the road.

The cafe serves breakfast all day but in true Berlin style there's no one there until 10 or 11, perfect for those wanting to party until 5am. The breakfast is extra but cheap - 5 euros will get you a hot drink, a Danish and some gesplitterbrochen (somewhere between cake and bread) and jam.

The cafe closes at 7pm and you have the seating area to yourselves with a key to come and go. They were fine with us buying beers and wine from the shop next door and storing it in the fridges upstairs and drinking downstairs once the cafe had shut rather than paying cafe prices.

The location is excellent too - there's a U-bahn station at the end of the road and the ticket lets you travel on the U-bahn S-bahn and mainline trains. We were in a big group so bought tickets as groups of 5 and it worked out to around 3 euros each per day. The U2 line gets you to Alexanderplatz in 10 mins which is pretty central and has a mainline station. HIGHLY recommended and I hope to go back.

The rooms are actually bigger than the photos on the website show. Very funky industrial vintage pieces in the rooms. Very clean and it is also in a quiet area but close to train stop. Breakfast available in the quiet cafe downstairs - No noise travels upstairs. Really helpful hosts. Recommend staying here. And particularly recommend the toasted goats cheese sandwich for Breakfast. Lovely place.

I travelled to Berlin with a group of girlfriends having found this place on airbnb. I chose Linnen as it looked so good in their photos, we were not disappointed; the quality of accommodation was out of this world!
I travel a lot for business and this place is much nicer than many of the five star hotels I use in the UK. The cafe is also exceptional, the food is prepared with the utmost care. There is always something delicious on offer no matter what your dietary requirements may be; we had with us a vegan, a vegetarian and someone with nut allergies, really, nothing is too much trouble!
I know we are all looking forward to the day when we can return to Berlin and sleep in luxury once more. Thank you Linnen!!!
