Owner description: Step into the fastest elevator in Europe to begin your journey through the eventful history of one of the world's most significant and popular squares. In just 20 seconds you will be whisked up to the 24th floor, where you can enjoy breathtaking views of Berlin. No other place offers such spectacular views of the city’s most famous landmarks and historic sites! The Brandenburg Gate, the Victory Column and Bellevue Palace are all just a stone’s throw away. The open-air exhibition “Views of Berlin” will show you how this historic site has been completely transformed again and again: from a quiet green to the pulsing heart of a major city, from the height of luxury to a field of rubble, from a no man’s land to the new centre of Berlin. An experience for all the senses – and the same goes for our PANORAMACAFÉ on the 24th floor and spectacular roof terrace on the 25th floor!

Agree with previous reviews that the DB obscures part of the view but there are still grand vistas taking the Tiergarten, Brandenberg Gate, Sony Center and Potsdamer Platz.

The entry fee was €5.80 and you get taken up 24 floors in 20 seconds - I gather it's the fastest lift in Europe. The observation deck is on 2 levels. The first level has a café and there are storyboards in both English and German giving a fascinating history of Potsdamer Platz starting in the 1830s through the Cold War and up to the early 1990s when Potsdamer Platz was transformer from a waste ground into the shiny new collection of skyscrapers we see today. The second level gives you the full 360 view from the building though unfortunately the DB blocks part of the skyline.

Overall, I thought this attraction was good value for money. There were no huge queues and for my the best thing was reading all about the history and seeing all the photos of how Potsdamer Platz looked through its changing history. There could well be better observation attractions around Berlin but it's worth a visit if you're this part of Berlin.

“Surprising Delight”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2013

I don't usually like this sort of thing . . . going to look at stuff high up etc etc But my other half wanted to go up in the super fast lift. And it's super fast. Seconds after the doors close, you are at the top. You don't even feel it.

We went about 10am midweek and had the place to ourselves. There's a good exhibit on the lower tier and the upper tier has amazing brickwork which, given I was by myself, made for fab photos.

And you can see for miles. I am a convert to being up high and looking at stuff.

“Worth a look”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 5, 2013

This attraction does afford you a good view of the city by a cheaper means, that is if you try not to get offended by the guides who may have done their training and customer service in the 'old regime, I wanted to apologise for wanting to go up in the lift. The information boards give a good history of the area as well as its changing landscape.
Beat me why the café did not open at the same time as the attraction as people were looing to go in but it did not open until an hour later at 11 am. They are missing a trick here I feel. What a wasted business opportunity. I saw loads go up to the door then not waiting go back down to the other eateries around the area.

“Fenced in”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

The Panoramapunkt is located at the Potsdamer Platz, easy accessed by the U and S bahn.
The elevator ride was the highlight for me, 100 meters up in 20 seconds!
The fencing made it hard to really get a good look at the big city, the Berliner Dom had a better view.
Intereresting storyboards on almost every wall around the panoramapunkt.

“Mediocre”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 4, 2013

There are far far better ways for you to spend your money in Berlin. Fastest elevator? View at DB building? Bars all over? Go here only if you are somewhere near Potsdamer Platz, short on time, and you havent been anywhere else for a view at the city.
