This should have been a home run. The location is convenient to public transport, the room is spacious and attractive, the breakfast buffet quite good, and reception staff, when they were available, or not addressing a problem, very friendly. So what was the problem? Looking around, it’s clear the boutique vibe of the hotel isn’t being well maintained. Many of the walls and ceilings have worn coverings and blistering paint. There’s little storage space in rooms for multinight stays. The key card system is unreliable: I made four trips to the front desk to get my card reset, and on two of those trips I waited in excess of 20 minutes for anyone to show up at reception. Worst of all, the hinge on the plate glass shower door broke leaving a three by six foot sheet of glass dangling from a single hinge. I had noticed part of the hinge plate was snapped off when I checked in, and that the shower door didn’t close well, allowing water to pool outside the door. When the hinge broke, I immediately called reception, who told me someone would be right up. I waited an hour before I had to leave for a dinner reservation, and no-one showed. I let reception know I would be out, but they would be free to take care of the issue while I was out. When I returned three hours later, nothing had been done. Not feeling safe in the bathroom I returned to reception. The desk clerk was clearly frustrated and very defensive, but said if I packed up my belongings he would find me another room. When I returned to reception he was much more contrite, but admitted he didn’t have staff on hand to deal with this sort of problem. The Axel chain of hotels puts a lot into their marketing and online boutique. Too bad they can’t handle the basics of staffing and maintenance. Needless to say, I won’t return or recommend their properties.

Convenient to the LGBT center of activity in Schoneberg, quick Uber or scooter ride. Located right off the underground so getting around Berlin is easy. Great rates and service. Friendly staff. Sauna and gym and WiFi - they do it right. I’ll be back!

This hotel overall is a very nice boutique hotel we especially enjoyed the breakfast which consisted of eggs fresh breads fruits yogurt and coffee that is made on site by Jose who does a great job of greeting you in the morning this hotel also has a decent gym along with a hot tub and sauna which is nice to use at the end of a day of exploring in Berlin the only downside to the hotel is that it is not centrally located and the U is needed to get around. The U or metro is easy to take and only cost seven euros for a full day of use make sure to validate your ticket. The room are also on the small side. The front desk at this hotel was OK but a little bit inconsistent Damien was very friendly and helpful while some of the others were not (Ross).

We had the standard room and the bed was comfortable. The room was on the small size for two people with two large suitcases. The hotel is on an ok location but only because there are two metro stations nearby and a there are a few supermarkets nearby. It is at least a 30 min walk to the gay bars where the main Axel is and the KaDeWe shopping mall. The rooftop was only open for breakfast which is silly as it was the main selling point for us when we booked this hotel and as it was summer, they should have it open as it would be a lovely pace to have some cocktails, a drink or something to eat. Although it says that this hotel has a Peruvian restaurant, we haven’t seen it. The staff is aloof and you feel bad to ask them any questions as they are not so forthcoming with the answers (a simple one as where to go for a drink or something to eat nearby)The spa area is ok. Overall is a newish hotel with some modern amenities but we wouldn’t stay there again.

Had an amazing relaxing stay at this hotel with my best friend. We were greeted by the lovely Tommy at reception who informed us our room had been upgraded, otherwise the staff are lovely and very welcoming. The hotel provides a lovely breakfast at the rooftop bar providing a good selection of food. Spa and gym are open until 12am, so you can spend a nice evening around Berlin and be back in time to unwind in the sauna and jacuzzi. Would definitely recommend, an choose to stay there again as it's close to public transport therefore easy to commute around Berlin.
