Owner description: In the 1970s, Alexanderplatz became an experiment in socialist urban aesthetics. The square is the home to the World Time Clock, a continually rotating installation that shows the time around the globe and Hermann Henselmann’s Haus des Lehrers.

I thought that because all of the tram lines seem to run through Alexanderplatz that it would be something special or have some good places to eat.

Well, it's just big and uninviting. There may be some good shopping in the department store, but there are not good food options (we ended up taking the tram to another part of the city to eat lunch). We walked around the different side streets connected to the square, but could not find anything close that looked remotely interesting.

Great to shop at Alexanderplatz in Berlin. Lots of entertainment in the square where there is a fountain to cool us down from the sun.

I had heard of Alexanderplatz and was expecting so much more. It was just a large shopping area with some street musicians or street vendors. I was hoping for more cafe style places to eat and sit and watch the world go by. I thought the whole square would have been surrounded by them but i was mistaken. Lots of fast food and a couple bars that looked more night clubby and out of place.. Still walk through and move on

Alexanderplatz is a memorial in itself. The sterile concrete buildings remind visitors of the Cold War days. It is a journey backwards in time.

The City of Berlin has chosen to locate its tourist info center to Alexanderplatz - a smart choice. The contrast between the concrete and the sorrounding classic architecture is stunning, a true experience of the city´s unique history.

this is a must see place when you visit Berlin, a big public space that contains many things: a café/restaurant to have a cup of coffee or a beer..a souvenir shop, the 360 berlin where you can see all berlin from up...a water fountain where you can sit and enjoy berlin and the constant shows random people do on the street, of course you will not miss the man punk people.
