Mercure is a chain i often pick when travelling, in this case i needed an hotel near potsdamer platz and the berlinale IFM, hotel is just at the exit of gleisdreieck u bahn, the street is lonely and quiet a bit gloomy when returning late, though i never felt any alarm. the hotel is greatly renovated, rooms are confortable, service very friendly and nice, there is a cozy inner court where you can have breakfast as it is partly covered, (but it was still cold) breakfast itself is a great point as for most berlin hotels, good variety and all is fresh. I had a fantastic deal for a little more than 40 eu breakfast included so my grade would be top if not for the internet connection that was basically useless, if you stay here bring a cable and connect, the wifi is slow and painful...

Hotel is situated in smal quite side road, which on first view is not looing too exciting, as the direct vicinity doesn't have either shops nor bar or restaurant. However the underground station "Gleisdreick" is only 100meters away. It is 2 station by underground to Potsdamer Platz.. The building accomodating the hotel is a elderly one, which has undergone some renovation/paintings.
the hotel is having a very nice courtyard, ant it must be very nice to have breakfast or a drink there during summer.

Breakfast was very good with every thing you do requiry and fried/scrambled eggs have been freshly prepared at our request.

the room we have had was a bit small, but for one night it was Absouutely ok. The room and sanitary facilities have been verry tidy and sufficent towels,(3 per person) had been supplied.

Staf was verry helpfully, as especially on Sunday late afternoon, when I have had aproblem with my car.

The onyl downfall is the elevator, small and slow.

Room Tip: At warm summer morning have breakfast in the courtyard

I've been in Berlin in late august. The hotel is nice and clean, rooms are nothing sprcial and unfortunnally they don't have or they didn't had a room for 2 with separated bed. Anyway, the service was great and the position too, very near from a metro station and from Sony Center

I stayed here for 3 nights with my boyfriend. The staff were polite and efficient. The location is ok- the nearest tube only a couple of minutes walk away.

Breakfast at the hotel is €19.. Per person! There's a lovely Balzac coffee house just across from the station which does good coffees, pastries and cakes- good for escaping the cold!

A big down point for us was that the hotel doesn't have double duvets. We had a double bed and 2 single duvets which was a pain.

Overall, I think it's decent value for money.

Don't be put off by first impressions of the hotel surroundings. This is a great base as the Gleisdreieck station is a few yards away giving access to both the U1 & U2 lines. There is not much to see close to the hotel but a short walk away are the Stasi and Topography of Terror museums on Zimmerstrasse. The hotel is very comfortable and the breakfast choice is excellent. The only downside for us was the noise in the courtyard one night (2am+) as voices were amplified. We would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a short break in Berlin. We took a taxi to the Schoenefeld airport for our flight home costing 32Euros.

Am looking to spend eight nights in Berlin for the film market in February, as I do most years. But I will not consider a hotel that charges for internet; or, to phrase it differently, strong, high-speed in-room wi-fi for no extra charge is a must. Recoup your allegedly high installation costs by stating a higher nightly room rate. Separate internet charges fall somewhere between a bait-and-switch and a Master Of The House attempt to gouge the customer once they're through the door.

Great hotel, good location, just next to underground station. Great value for money, nice, spacious and clean room. Nothing interesting in closest neighbourhood, but hotel bar offers decent food and good draft local beer. Fantastic breakfast!
