“A six star experience”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

This hotel is without flaw. My experience during a three night stay was as perfect as it gets. The staff is courteous, professional, and friendly. The rooms are extremely well appointed, comfortable, and tastefully decorated. I cannot come up with a single negative associated with my stay in this hotel.

Is it expensive? Yes, definitely, compared to the perfectly acceptable budget hotels in the area. At the same time, the rooms, food, and drinks are well in line for a hotel in this class. Missteps noted by other reviewers right after the hotel opened appear to have been addressed.

Also in the hotel's favor is its location. It's right across the street from a well connected train station (S- and U-bahn lines). It's also across the street from Berlin's zoo and aquarium. Two blocks away are streets with upscale stores and high quality restaurants. Tegel airport is a 20 minute taxi ride. The Brandenburg Gate is a nice easy walk through an enormous park (Tiergarten).

What I most appreciated was that the staff was neither obsequious or condescending. To a person they struck the right balance between deferential and friendly. I would love to go back.

Room Tip: The corner rooms on the top floor are wonderful.

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. It is a luxurious heaven where the focus is definitely on the details. Check-in was expeditious and I was accompanied to the room by a concierge who explained all the features. The room was on the 15th floor ad affoarded great views of the city. The room was spacious and although the air conditioning system can not be adjusted, you have the chance of opening the windows, which is great!
The bathroom has a heated floor and a small TV screen on the mirror and all toiletries are by Salvatore Ferragamo. The hotel also offers a free shoe shining service, where you put your shoes out the night before and have them delivered the following morning.
Breakfast was very good, although not as varied as in other Waldorf Astorias I have stayed in. The staff is extremely attentive. The kitchen staff was a bit slow to refill the empty plates at times, but if you asked, it was done straight away.
The Interned is not free (12 euros/hr), but if you are a Gold/Diamond member, there is no charge.
I was not particularly impressed with the Library and would have rather liked an Executive Lounge. As soon as you come in, you will see different bottles of champagne on the table, but be careful as they are not free!
The location is excellent and next to the best shopping area in Berlin, although the shops seemed to be closed on a Sunday.
I would definitely stay here again!!!!!

Room Tip: 15th floor

What a great posting about our beautiful property! Yes, Wifi is free for HHonour Diamond and Gold members but Internet is also free at the lobby, library on the 15th floor and business centre on the second floor and also via Tv screen in the rooms. We are delighted to inform you that we just won the Word Travel Award 2014 for the best Leading Hotel in Germany and for the best Suite and in April for the best Luxury hotel Spa!! We stayed here for three nights of sheer luxury. Our 13th floor corner room was enormous and offered a view of the Tiergarten, and West Berlin. The bed was heavenly, the bathroom was huge and had a heated floor, which was a nice contrast to the freezing temperatures and snow on the ground outside.

Most of the employees we encountered were extremely friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. I was especially impressed with one of the doormen, one gentleman at the concierge desk, all of the servers at Les Solistes restaurant and the staff in the spa. I was constantly amazed by the staff's ability and willingness to speak English to us. My husband speaks a bit of German, but we would have been lost without the staff's kind understanding.

We had the 7-course tasting menu on Easter Sunday at Les Solistes. The food and wine were wonderful, and the service (including the adorable sommelier!) was excellent. Two tiny complaints: we were served 13 dishes during a four-hour meal, and it was a bit too much food. Also, the serving dishes (i.e., the plates and bowls that the food arrived in) were a bit pretentious -- more concerned with appearances over practicality. But, these are small complaints, as we had a very nice dining experience.

The spa was great! My husband and I both had massages, and we agreed they were two of the best massages we've ever had. Well worth the cost. I also encourage guests to make use of the pool, hot tub, and sauna. They were tucked away in the back of the Spa area, which made them seem off limits, but they were free and very relaxing. They are co-ed, so bring your swimsuits.

One minor note of caution about this hotel: COST! Berlin hotels are generally cheaper than other cities in Europe -- especially Paris. However, the restaurants are very pricey and a cup of tea in the lobby (i.e., Peacock Alley) was 9.50 euros. It was, by far, the most expensive cup of tea I have ever had!

Room Tip: If possible, try to get a corner room.

Stayed at this lovely hotel during Easter for 3 nights. Its easy accessible and conveniently located just at Kurfuerstendamm, one of the best addresses for shopping in Berlin. Already at arrival I experienced very attentive service. The Front Desk team is superb, always available and giving great recommendations for dining, museums and city tours.
Rooms are very well designed, comfortable beds and spacious bathrooms with an amazing shower !! Don't miss to go to the spa. Its a great place to relax and the staff looks after you very well. The bar offers a great variety of cocktails, some of them even unknown to me. Can only recommend this hotel to anybody looking for trendy, luxurious hotel in Berlin.

This is a top-class hotel with great service. The staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. The hotel is conveniently located near the Zoological Garden Stop (if you get out at the right exit you will basically step inside the hotel) and the main stream shopping area of Kurfurstendamm.
Although in my personal opinion this is the ugliest part of town (there are many lovely neighborhoods in the East), the hotel adds value to it and will probably help the renovation of the area.

I travelled with my mom and we asked for a silent room on the highest floor, which we were given at the 14th floor experiencing an amazing view on the Tiergarten park. Room was spacious, with two queen beds and an amazing bathroom providing everything you need.

The Guerlain Spa is a very nice area with a cold swimming pool and a warm jacuzzi, a sauna and hammam. Also, I used the fitness center which has all the basic machines you need (one tapis roulant wasn't working, but it was never that much crowded anyway).

We decided to have the breakfast included, and it was worth it. Fresh squeezed juices, croissants and pastries, all kinds of cheese, 6 different types of milk to go with your cereals, and so on... On Saturday we had an early flight and we went at 6:30 but we didn't know that in the weekend they open at 7: No problem of course, they were all very kind and got everything ready for us.

Room Tip: Higher floors mean less noise from the street

All the best from Berlin to the unique and breath-taking Rome! It so nice to read your detailed description of our elegant property and its interesting surroundings. We are very proud of being the initiators of the transformation of the City West. Recently they have finished the restoration of the Kaiser- Wilhelm Gedächtniskirche and the Bikini Mall…and the show goes on…they are restoring the Railway station Zoologischer Garten and also the bridges and both squares: Hardenbergplatz and Breitscheidplatz where the most wonderful Christmas market is inviting Berlin to shopping and enjoying from today on. A "Glühwein" can turn up the winter temperatures in the wink of an eye. Please come and visit us very soon again.

I was visiting Berlin for more or less 4 days for an exhibition, and stayed at this hotel. I had never heard of this hotel and only chose it based on it's positive online reviews. Once I got through the door already I knew I was going to be pleased with my choice. The lobby service was excellent, there was a seating area which doubled as a coffee shop, every morning before you walk off onto your day you can grab a complimentary coffee, water, fruits, etc etc. There was also the option of wine or champagne and so on in the evenings. The rooms were very well equipped, modern, and comfortable. The bathrooms as well. There was a beautiful library in the hotel that I very much enjoyed. Also there was a great spa which I loved. The room service and main desk was always helpful in providing me with the little nick backs I forgot to pack and guiding me around town. Staff was very friendly! The location was also very good, everything was within at most 15 minutes of distance and you could even go to some of the cities shop and restaurant locations by walking if you liked. Over all it was a wonderful experience and I was very satisfied with my stay. I'd recommend it 100%!
