“Very comfortable stay with fitness and sauna to boot”
Reviewed July 25, 2012

We spent four nights here in order to see Berlin and we were very happy with our stay. Since we stayed for four nights the hotel upgraded us to a larger room which had a small sitting room and a bedroom with a closing door. This was especially important since we have a one year old daughter and this allowed us to close the bedroom door; helping us sleep and helping our daugther sleep.

One highlight was the staff - they were extremely professional and helpful both in recommendations for dinner and sightseeing. We found ourselves constantly asking them a question (in English) and they were unfailingly helpful.

We made use of the fitness room and the sauna / spa area in the basement, which was wonderful! The fact that this was free, and the hotel was priced competitively with its Accor chain neighbors makes this an even better selection.

As others have mentioned, the hotel is not located in a prime night-spot, etc. However, it is a short walk to Checkpoint Charlie, the Topography of Terror display as well as two U-bahn stops. This hotel is a good selection

The furnishings were a bit dated but still eminently usable. One surprise was the fact that the automatic shades open in high winds; which happened to us twice during our stay. The information is posted in the hotel room but you have to be quite inquisitive to find it. Needless to say it woke our daughter up at 04:30 AM when the shades rose and light came into the room; in the future we also closed the curtains which eliminated that issue.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the courtyard are quieter

The hotel is kept spotlessly clean and the staff are friendly and willing to help. The breakfast was absolutely amazing; so much choice and diversity, even for a fussy veggie like me! Healthy, indulgent, unexpected and always tasty!
One major flaw was that the rooms didn't have any air conditioning and so were too hot for a comfortable sleep. However, we did ask for fans from the reception and they were all too happy to oblige.
Also, within 5 minutes were many attractions such as Checkpoint Charlie, Topography of Terrors, Brandenburg Gate, Holocaust memorial and even an underground AND subway station!

The Relexa served our needs well for a one week's stay in June. It's not in a particularly exciting area of Berlin for tourists. It's three blocks southwest of Checkpoint Charlie. There are two U stations nearby, so it's convenient to go elsewhere in that regard. Excellent Morelos Steakhouse just a block away.

There is good value for the money here. Service was good and the rooms were spotless. The only improvement I would suggest would be to add ceiling fans to the rooms. It can be uncomfortably stuffy during the heat of the day. Moving the air around would have helped sleeping at night as well.

Room Tip: Street side can be noisy at night during the summer. Windows must stay open to get relief from the h...

Relaxa Stuttgarter Hof is one of those forgettable hotels you have everywhere. It seems well run, it's efficient, catering to business men who want a bed and a reliable internet connection. Period.

So if that's all you want, this hotel is fine. Anhalter Strasse, by the way, is as bland as the hotel itself, but it's close to a station without a direct connection to the airport, so you can definitely stay there if you're infatuated with chain hotels. However, the breakfast brunch was really, really good!

What a great hotel Joerg and his team looked after us so well.
The service, location, food and room were all fantastic and we'll definitely be back if we stay in Berlin.
All the staff were excellent and the standard of housekeeping was first class, our room was spotless.
If you go to Berlin you've got to stay here.

Well, the overall judgment is “medium”.
The hotel is undoubtedly located at walking distance from the city centre.
The price is not so high.
The level of cleanliness of the rooms is not standard (I mean, it is below) for a 4-stars hotel.
As far as ethics and socio-cultural aspects are concerned, part of the staff appears somewhat corrupted.
