“Average hotel suitable for cheap city break”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 22, 2013 via mobile

I stayed at this hotel with my family for a week. The room was small but sufficient. The hotel is about a 15 min walk from the metro. Conveniently its across the road from a couple of supermarkets. The worst part of the stay for us was the noise outside our window (we were on the first floor) from the dozens and dozens of italian students at 12 - 3 in the morning. Its a very busy hotel and the reception is often full of school groups. In summary hotel is nothing special but sufficient for a cheap city stay. The receptionists were friendly and printed out our boarding passes for ryanair for free. Also we had wi fi in our room with no charge as we were so close to reception.

Me and my wife stayed here in march 2013. We payed £75 for 3 nights stay. Breakfast not included, this was 6.50 euros per person each day.
The room is to a good standard. Clean and comfortable. The bathroom was clean too. No complaints there. Only nit picky thing I would pull is the pillows, or lack of! Basically nothing.

There is 1-2 english speaking channels on the TV. BBC world service.

There is free WIFI in the reception lobby, which seemed to work when we needed it.

Yes it is a 10 minute walk from the nearest underground tube stations. But this was not a problem for us. There are 3 supermarkets across from the hotel, we had no problems bringing food into the hotel either.

Overall a good CHEAP modern hotel, ideal for a few nights stay.

But a bit of the track from public transport. 15 min. walk to u-Bahn. Close to the Stasi museum. 24 hour check-in and out. Polite staff. Old tv and no waterboiler - If those things matter to you. Plenty of groucery shops nearby.

I stayed 2 nights in this hotel. The room was spacious and pretty clean. There was Wi-Fi in the lobby only but we had unlimited access to it (sometimes the connection would cut off, but overall it was very helpful to have wifi at all). The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the nearest metro station. I personally don't mind walking but if you're planning to take a cab every time it could be a pretty long ride from the city center. I personally was travelling with a tour so most of the time there was a coach that would pick us up or drop us at the hotel. Same for the prices, I paid for 3 different hotels so can't tell much about the price of this hotel individually.

This hotel was pretty good. Spacious, clean, about average comfortable. The breakfast buffet is really good compared to most european breakfast buffets. My only con, which is a big one for me, was that it was incredibly inconvenient. It's about a 15 minute walk to the nearest metro (about 0.75 Miles). So it's not ideal to go out and about, come back to the hotel for a break, then go back out. There weren't many restaurants in the area, but there was a big supermarket across the street, where we could get sandwiches. I think next time we'll splurge a little more and stay closer to the city, or at least near a metro. There's so much to do in Berlin, wasting 30 minutes and energy to walk to the metro is not the best use of my time/energy.

Let's be clear, this is definitely not what one would call a luxurious hotel. However, when I travel, all I need is a decent room and shower. I booked the room at 56 Euros per night and thus was not expecting all too much from the hotel anyway as that is around the price I would have to pay for a single room at a hostel.

On arrival, I was pleased to find that the room is fairly spacious, beds are quite comfortable and the shower is definitely clean. I also like the fact that there is a supermarket across the road so it is extremely convenient to buy your groceries. I usually do not utilise room service so I am unable to comment on that.

There is no fridge in the room and no water boiler. I am not sure if that's usual in European hotels though.

One point of caution I would like to add is that the hotel is about 10 to 15 mins walk away from U-Bahn Magdalenen Strasse. I don't mind it, but some people may not like to walk as much.

this is quite a good hotel, good breakfast and evening meal, only problem is, if you want to have a drink, buy your drink from any one of the 2 supermarkets across the street and take it to your room as the bar staff are only interested in serving you if you have a german accent. they are very rude to foreign visitors. although i was asked what i would like to drink i waited 35 minutes for it as the young lady went missing for that amount of time.
