“FANTASTIC”

We stayed 2 nights and were lucky enough to be upgraded to one of the suites. The room was huge with a balcony and small kitchenette. Breakfast was excellent! Lots of choices an everything was fresh. The staff were excellent...went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed - they even escorted us to the the lifts when we checked in and gave a tour of the hotel on the way. And you get a hello and a smile from every staff member as you walk through the hotel. Excellent location - only a very short walk to many sights in Berlin. We were at the end of a 2 week tour of Europe and this was by far the best hotel we stayed in. Would definitely stay again when in Berlin and recommend to anyone.

We spent 4 nights and were very happy with the location, comfort of the very large room and the extremely friendly and helpful staff. Even though the hotel is only 3 blocks from the underground station Stadtmitte, it was also extraordinarily quiet. The only sound was the twittering of birds in the courtyard in the early morning. The toilet and shower are separated, which is practical. Mattress very comfortable. I have never seen a hotel room with so many electrical outlets! We were aware that someone had really thought the furnishings through. My only criticism was the light in the bathroom - terrible for putting on makeup! But there was a large magnifying mirror (which worked for at least half of your face, since the light was coming from one side only) and a good hair dryer.
Breakfast buffet was very good with variations each day, which is nice for a longer stay. Plenty of fresh fruit, different cold cuts, meats, cheeses, smoked salmon, fresh vegies, hot dishes, breads, condiments, yogurts and cereals - just a wide selection of everything you're likely to want to eat for breakfast and of good quality (the jam is not in little packages(!) and there are 3 or 4 different kinds of honey), not to forget freshly squeezed orange juice.
They also have so-called Privileged Rooms, which apparently include a coffee-maker (which would have been nice to have in the standard rooms) as well as suites with kitchenette. There are no restaurants in the hotel - only breakfast is served and small snacks in the bar. The bar has a very nice heated patio area in the courtyard for sipping a glass of wine.
But there are plenty of good restaurants within easy reach. The Vietnamese "Rice & Roll" on the corner is an excellent choice for weekday lunch.

The staff dealt wonderfully with a minor booking difficulty we had on their management website. Their email response was personal, prompt, efficient and helpful. We therefore arrived in the hotel confident that the staff would be very professional. This was indeed the case, from the moment we checked in until we left three days later. The accommodation is very relaxing and comfortable. The room had a larger than normal seating area which made it feel like a mini apartment, rather than just another hotel bedroom. Great mattress! It was unseasonably warm when we were there in late May but the room temperature was perfect. We loved the french doors opening onto the balcony which overlooked the quiet wine garden area. The room was light and airy but was also sufficiently dark for a great night's sleep. We booked on an internet deal which included breakfast - one of the best hotel breakfasts we've ever had! Fresh breads, pastries, cereals, fruits, yoghurts, cold meats, cheeses, hot sausages, omelettes, eggs, fruit juices, tea, coffee...a terrific selection of tasty, fresh stuff! Although in a quiet street, the hotel was in a very central location. Because of the lovely weather we did a lot of walking around the city and nowhere seemed too far. Best of all, we were within only a few minutes walk of restaurants and bars for going out in the evening. The hotel made a great trip to Berlin a really great trip!

The room was one of biggest and most beautiful we've stayed in...with a balcony over the courtyard and enormous windows.

Location is first rate, pick a direction and you are blocks from everything but the Zoo and KuFuDam.

Potsdammerplatz, Sony Center and Kulturalforum (und Tiergarten) to the northwest. The Brandenberg Tor, Unter den LInden, Museum Island to the north. Alexanderplatz and the Tower to the northeast. Checkpoint Charlie a block away. It's all close enough to walk! Marvelous!

The staff was amazing. I tend to treat everyone as my concierge, and all were helpful, efficient and personable in every way. I've never been treated better at any hotel in 25 countires.

Mercure Checkpoint Charlie...I can offer no higher recomendation. We would consider another trip to Berlin just to stay here...it's that good! :)

size, cleaness and silence of the room (including cooking facilities) are great. we enjoyed the breakfast meal however the service for extras from the kitchen during the breakfast is too long. Otherwise the staff is very friendly and helpful.

This is a very clean and nice hotel with a very friendly staff and in a great location in Berlin. My one complaint is that the Do Not Disturb tag on the door does not seem to mean I'm All Set Today, Come Back Tomorrow, it apparently translates to please come back and knock on my door and/or call me on the phone with the awful ring. That would be my one complaint about the hotel.
