Upon arrival, the young women who welcomed us were warm and very kind. this was the only warmth and kindness we received from any of the front desk people during the 6 days we were at the hotel. In fact, the men at the desk were surprisingly unhelpful. The room was large and had all of the amenities one would like - coffee machine, minibar, sitting area, decent bathroom, etc. However of the two pillows we received, one was ok and the other was a cheap, paper-thin type. Also, the blankets - one for each of us - were less than twin size. We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel as we thought that 18 euros per person was very high but it looked like a well endowed assortment. There are plenty of coffee shops and a starbucks nearby.
The hotel is located within 5 brisk walking minutes of two different train stations and we walked from the hotel to Potsdammer Platz within 20 minutes. I wouldn't stay here again, mostly because of the uncomfortable pillows and blankets but also because I hope to never be in Germany again.

As mentioned by other reviewers, this hotel is well-placed, being only a 5 minute walk from the underground and also within easy walking distance of many of the attractions of central Berlin. There are also innumerable shopping opportunities for those who enjoy retail therapy. The highlight was the breakfast buffet, with a huge selection of cereals, fruits, cheeses, meats, breads, preserves and drinks, as well as cooked items. An observation, rather than a criticism, is that it would have been rather nice to have had a bath to ease one's aching bones after all the sightseeing! The street itself was very quiet and we were not disturbed by other guests. We would definitely return in the future should we be back in Berlin.

Room Tip: Overlooking the courtyard.

The hotel is more of a serviced apartment facility, which I like. It is centrally located in a quite neighborhood, in proximity to all the main attractions. I stayed there one night in February 2014. The best thing was the room: felt almost luxurious, huge size, impeccably clean and fresh, with the most comfortable bed and bedding, nice fixtures, an amazing bathroom, plus an espresso maker. Wifi access in the room. Services were minimal, but included sauna upstairs. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included (as a promotion) and really good, with lots of choices and of great quality. I would stay there again.

Stayed 3 nights in this hotel, it's well placed to see all the sights and handy for transport links.

The room was a very large double room with two large double beds, couch, table and separate shower and toilet.

Didn't have the breakfast at the hotel as there were plenty of cafés nearby. Would highly recommend this hotel for location and quality.

For reference, I stayed in one of the suites with my partner. I visited during my stay for the Berlin Film Festival. The location of the hotel is great. Short walks from everywhere I needed to be (Potsdamer Platz & Checkpoint Charlie), and if I needed to travel further out, the nearest train station is very near. Absolutely ideal. The hotel is situated on a quiet street, so I almost felt like I had accessed this hidden treasure.

The hotel staff are very friendly. They always greeted me very happily on my way in and gave me a pleasant "enjoy your day!" when I left for the day. I was constantly coming in and out as required, and I always felt welcome.

The room I stayed in was very clean, very comfortable and very large. I was very pleased that every day I was greeted with fresh re-stock of coffee for the complimentary coffee maker in the room (I love coffee). The bathroom had lovely features I wasn't expecting, including heated floors and a speaker that played sound from the TV (great for some 80's music video nostalgia). Overall, the room had great living space. The balcony with seating was an added bonus I wasn't expecting!

I can't wait to return to Berlin and stay again. The Mercure Hotel made me feel right at home.
