My wife and I stayed here during a recent trip to Berlin. This is a charming old place, reminiscent of the Kaiser Wilhelm era. The room we had was very large and comfortable, overlooking the Kurfurstendamm. Noise, however, wasn't a problem. The bed was very good. Staff were helpful and obliging. The location is just the best, with innumerable excellent restaurants in the immediate vicinity. Breakfast was included and taken in the utterly atmospheric dining room. Wifi was good in room 12. Finally, we thought our stay at the Askanischer Hof was excellent value for money. We will come again and can strongly recommend this hotel if you want a change from contemporary kitsch and glitz.

If you want to experience what Berlin was like in the 20's.....come here. It's a little strange, but fantastic. Breakfast is lovely, rooms can be large, and the staff are friendly. In an elegant, but not hip, neighborhood. We will only stay here! It's unique.

This hotel is not only the best place I’ve stayed in Europe, it’s the best place I’ve stayed anywhere. Seriously. This hotel is awesome. Located on the historical street, Kurfurstendamm, this circa 1910 hotel is old and beautiful, quaint and comfortable. Each room is spacious and unique, with high ceilings, art deco and vintage decor, and phenomenal views. The staff is wonderful – gracious and very helpful, and the continental breakfast is more formal and filling than most, serving up traditional German foods in a grand, antique dining hall. The location is central to almost all the major attractions in Berlin, and is only blocks away from both the Metro and UBahn stations. Despite its location amongst designer shops like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Prada, this hotel is a great value!

Me and my husband stayed here for 3 nights in July, 2012. We had planned to stay at some arty place, so it wasn't our first choice in any way - but we didn't know that Berlin Fashionweek entered the city at the same time as we were going there. We still felt this was more us than any modern kind of business hotel. We loved the Art Nouveau style of our room. We were not impressed by the breakfast, though. It was a bit far from where we spent most of our time, but then again, we would not have seen this part of Berlin otherwise. So, all in all, a decent place.

Selected this hotel from the Tripadvisor reviews and its location as last time I was in Berlin was about 3-4 weeks after the wall came down and Ku'damm was the centre of everything. Wondered if we had made a mistake by being so far from many of the tourist sights, but in fact it was a good location - quiet at night with a fair few nearby restaurants. Only problem seemed to be a lack of places to grab a quick beer although there were some corner stores to buy water etc once you looked for them. Once we had worked out that Savigny Platz U-bahn station was nearer than Uhlandstrasse it was very convenient for travelling by foot, U-bahn and S-bahn around the city. The room was right on the corner with an enclosed balcony overlooking Ku'damm, fairly large as these things go and a comfy double bed despite the split in the middle. Still not sure what you're supposed to do with these huge square pillows though. Bathroom and general cleanliness was good. The TV struggled with some of the channels and someone had changed these from those in the sheet in the room. The breakfast was good and filling and an unusually reasonable price compared to some places we've stayed. Wifi was only available beside reception or in the breakfast room, but that was sufficient for our stay.

We stayed here for the second time in June this year. This hotel is located on Kudamm and very convenient for shops and transport. The rooms are very retro and well furnished and cosy. Both rooms we have stayed in have been large and overlooked the Kudamm. The welcome from the staff is warm and service attentive. Breakfast is served in a wonderful dining room covered in show business memorabilia. A real haven and such a change from the international style of hotel.

It's not easy to find an hotel of charm in Berlin, but Askanischer Hof is one of the most charming hotels we ever stayed at. It's one of the oldest hotels in Berlin that has survived two world wars, however - this doesn't mean it's outdated.
It rather a pension than hotel - it occupies first floor of the regular building facing Kurfurstendamm. When entering you will feel as if you suddenly find yourself in 1920s. The rooms are spacious and clean and tastefully designed to the same epoch as the hotel common areas. Some rooms are facing the backyard, some - Kurfurstendamm, but double-glazed windows care that no noise get through. There is no air condition that can be an issue in summers, but in spring this was not a problem at all.
Wi-fi is available for free, however you can't catch it in some of the rooms further back in the building, though it works perfectly in the lobby. The breakfast is very good and wonderfully served. The staff is very friendly.
The position of the hotel is also quite convenient - in 5 min by foot you can reach Savigny Platz station, in 20 min - Zoo station.
Overall - a really good place to stay when you're at Berlin.
