“Not at Alexanderplatz...but close”
Reviewed July 3, 2013

Not at Alexanderplatz--that said, it is just a few stops away and easy to transfer to the S-Bahn. It is quite easy in fact to get all the way from the airport to the hotel--just ride a bus to Alexanderplatz and then transfer to the S-Bahn. LOOK at the hotel website for rates. I used the hot.... website (hidden surprise buy) and ended up paying slightly more than if I booked directly through the hotel. The hotel itself was quite nice. The room clean and spacious. The front desk people were always friendly and helpful. Also, it was easy to store bags there, pick them up, check in, etc. without fuss. Since the hotel is just a bit away from Alexanderplatz, there are always people on the train at night so it is quite safe. BEWARE: there is NO free internet in the room or the lobby. Hard to get a signal on the iPhone. Overall nice place to stay-the entire hotel feels quite new and modern.

Hotel is convenient, new, clean, and comfortable. As you have already learned, the name is msisleading - It is not on or near Alexanderplarz. Clearly a creative marketing twist that is not appreciated by the customers. Why upset your visitors upon check-in? The location s great as is and right across the street is a wonderful, huge, old park that may well be preferred by many visitors to Alexanderplatz. Not a very smart move. Rooms are all new, and well done. The typical 2-bed arrangement may not be appreciated by American visitors who can't figure out why Europeans can't simply supply a nice queen size bed for couple to sleep on. Having said that, the bedding is excellent and comfortable. The bathroom is also typically german - excellent hardware, all solid, but the shower is still that flex-handle thing - leading American tourists to wonder what is so hard about installing a fixed shower head. Enjoy a bath :-). Breakfast is 19 euros per person and looked pretty good, but I chose to walk 5 minutes to a café and have a great breakfast for 7 euros (turn right from the entrance). Restaurant is very good, but the service is slow and un-attentive.

Hotel supplies bike rentals - great idea. Very easy to get around on a bike in Berlin. My main complaint with the hotel (in addition to the creative naming) is its "clever" internet policy. The hotel claims to provide free internet. And indeed you can get a daily code for internet (not very convenient) and attempt to use it. It is very restricted in speed and designed to frustrate you into buying the 10 euro premium internet access. If all you need is to get and send a few emails, it is ok, but surfing or any other serious activity is not realistic. This way they get to claim "free internet" while still forcing you into a charge. I don't appreciate that kind of bait-and-switch tactics and it is similar in misguided thinking to naming hotel "aleksanderplatz" - if you want to build repeat clientele that is at the heart of every successful hotel - set expectations at the right level and then meet them every time. Simple. So this very nice hotel manages to upset their future repeat clients by small silly things and that is unfortunate. Objectively a very good hotel at a good price. Good for business, tourism, and family travel.

Room Tip: ask for the room facing the back to get away from street noise.

..... is not close to the Hotel. At least no so close as you would figure given the name of the Hotel. You can reach it taking the Strassenbahn which stops pretty close to the Hotel and in 5 to 10 minutes you will be there. Knowing this, you will enjoy your stay.
NH Alexanderplatz Hotel is pretty new. Service is very good and the restaurant too. I would really recommend the breakfast, lots of choices, fresh bread, good coffee, and a wonderful service according to the best German standards. Free WiFi, nice neighborhood ....

A modern hotel, with modern facilities. Comfortable, spacious rooms, mine was very bright. There is an extra door, which blocks out any potential noise from the hallway, but it is a quite hotel anyway. I went there on business and all meals were part of the deal, which was always buffet style and the choice was ample. Food was very good, breakfast had a huge variety of everything - from eggs, sausages, to cold meats, yogurts, every last type of muesli and cereal, fruit, everything you could possibly want. Lunch and dinner alway had at least 4 different types of main course on offer via the buffet. There is free wifi throughout the hotel, the conference facilities are good, staff are friendly and helpful. Alexanderplatz is 3 tram stops away, the tram is just down the road, so no big trip really. I would definitely stay again, cannot fault this hotel.

I have been visiting this well located hotel several times in the years due to fairs in the city and never got disappointed. Make no mistakes: this is a big hotel, a lot of rooms and plenty of people, so don't come here to get the cozy feeling of a family run boutique hotel. You get good service, great rooms and a better than average breakfast. Plenty of restaurants and shops very close to the hotel.

Room Tip: The top rooms are amazing since you have more than 180 degrees view with high windows.

I reserved, September 2012, a double room for three nights in the N H Alexander Platz Hotel believing it was on or beside Alexander Platz, Berlin only to find that it is located on Landsberger Alle three tram stops from the Alexander Platz. This is not what we required.
On arrival we were given a small twin room although we had booked a superior double.
The receptionist was not very helpful, We asked if we could cancel our booking as the Hotel was not located where we required to be located and the room was not to our standard. This we were not allowed to do. A Receptionist called Anika came to our rescue. Anika sorted out out our correct booking and brought us to our lovely room. Anika insured, for the next three days, that our stay was what we expected from the hotel.
She, all the time assisted us with making our holiday in Berlin a memorable occasion.

The hotel offered a good standard of breakfast, either inside or on a terrace.
Our non smoking room was clean with no smell of smoke, good bathroom etc..

Would I stay again, may be, but was disappointed with location. The hotel sells tickets for the tram which stops just down the road. Make sure you get the correct tram on your return journey and know your stop. We made a mistake and got off at the incorrect stop and had to get a taxi back.
Should you not mind walking, as we do we found the walk to the Platz acceptable.

Room Tip: Insure that this Hotel is located where you wish to be.
