“Perfect Hotel in a perfect location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 3, 2010

I absolutely loved the Park Inn. This was for a number of reasons. First, is the location. It's a short 20minute train ride from Berlin Schoenenfeld Airport. Second, is that the hotel has fantastic views of the city. Even though we were staying on one of the lower floors, it was an incredible view that we had over East Berlin. The opposite side has the most amazing view of the Alexanderplatx TV Tower.

The rooms are also incredible. Housekeeping came everyday and the beds were always lovely and fresh. My sister even spilled red wine on the sheets and wasnt charged! The rooms are pretty fancy too. Not sure how it will be in most rooms, but in ours, the toilet was in a separate room away from the shower. Never had that before! And the shower was amazing. So powerful, i never wanted to get out of it in the mornings. lol

Now, onto the breakfasts. Where to start. There was such a good selection every morning. Cereals, bread, cooked breakfasts, yogurt. You name it, they had it! Breakfasts start at 6 til 10:30. We went most mornings around half 7 and it was fairly quiet. However, one morning we went a bit later at half 8 and struggled to get a table. Obviously, it's a very big hotel and that must be when most people get up. However, we did manage to get one and there was plenty of food there.

We specifically went to Berlin for the Xmas markets. Outside our hotel is Alexanderplatz and they had the best markets in the city. At least according to my sister and I. We explored the city and saw all the major markets and sights and we believed that the Alexanderplatz was the best place to stay for it. We were close to the airport yet the Brandenburg Gate and Potsdamer Platz were just a half hour walk away.

Overall, i loved this hotel and would recommend it to anyone. I would definitely stay here again if and when i return to the gorgeous Berlin.

I was so impressed with this hotel. I was a bit apprehensive due to the size of the place, but the staff were so friendly and helpful. My sister decided to come on short notice, but they didn't have any rooms for her and her boyfriend. Because we were tourists and didn't know the area, the gentleman at the desk phoned another high quality hotel down the street for us and reserved a room for her!! This was a huge relief as it was the middle of tourist season.
The rooms are a bit small, but it really doesn't matter because they are very nice and very clean, and you'll be wanting to spend most of your time in the city anyway! I especially loved how the beds have two separate, extremely warm blankets for each person on the bed. Much more comfortable sleeping than sharing a blanket.

I paid roughly £75 per night for a 4 star hotel. Excellent value for money!

The location is excellent as well, as it is near Alexanderplatz station and lots of shopping and food. I rated location slightly lower only because it's in the East part of Berlin, which overall is not that nice although still fun.

Definitely stay here!

When we considered this hotel, we were very strongly aware of the near hysterical reaction to the configuration of bathroom facilities. However, wondering how bad this could be, we ended up fascinated to find out what could be so wrong with a basin located in the body of the room etc etc and so booked 3 nights. We are glad we did because the location of the hotel is fantastic for the old East: 3 minutes from Alexanderplatz U and S bahns and the trams and, if you are lucky, a fantastic view of the TV tower in all its socialist realist glory.

Now this used to be an old communist hotel and so it seems that some years ago, the new hotel owners undertook a radical refurb to squeeze some more space out of the relatively long and thin rooms. So what they did was to find a way of doing away with the internal space that is normally a feature of a discrete bathroom by separating the shower, wc and handbasin and having them face outwards into the room.. Voila, you have an extra square metre to play with in the room proper. The downside is that the basin is part of the entrance to the room which is aesthetically odd but, more important, means that there is a tendency for the floor area around the basin to get dirty (from outside shoes) and for water to drift from the sink to the carpet. That was the only practical issue I identified that was unavoidable but there were some avoidable issues which should have been addressed..... like a shower door opening onto the wall which contains the towel hooks prevents you from getting to your towels without dripping water everywhere....... and a see-through shower cabin which means the person shaving at the basin gets a ringside view of the action in the shower. Also, the glass and marble materials mean that anyone in the room can not be in a state of ignorance about the activities going on in the wc.

So, if you are sharing with a partner or wife with whom you have no secrets about your ablutions or bodily functions, this is a modern, well-fitted hotel in a fantastic location that will just bring you closer. If you are bothered by the minor inconveniences of a misguided attempt to save space and make room for a desk, then perhaps you should try elsewhere.

Oh, just one thing, Park Inn, if you are listening....... the knock on the door at 8am followed by another at 8:20 to clean my room was not appreciated. I dont care how many rooms you have to clean or that I could have put a notice on my door not to be disturbed..... no one expects the cleaning staff to be pestering guests this early so dont expect the semi naked guest to use particularly polite words when denying the maid entrance!!

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights and was overall very pleased with the standard and service. Despite some confusion with our booking at both check-in and check-out, the staff were extremely helpful and spoke fluent English which really helped. The rooms are smaller than the website suggests but well designed so that they don't feel cramped. They have an interesting idea of ensuite with an open plan bathroom and just a curtain separating the shower from the bedroom. The toilet is, thankfully, enclosed in frosted glass walls. Don't be fooled by wine, water, crisps and nuts that appear complimentary in a basket, you pay for all of these if you have them. The views are pretty great if you get a clear day and, if you can, request a higher level for an even better view. 'Spago's' restaurant within the hotel is good for drinks later in the evening and they have live music every night. I'd suggest heading out of the hotel for breakfast as you'll get a decent 'fruhstuck' in nearby streets for less than half the price the hotel charges. Make sure you use the toilet in your room as they charge you to use the toilets in the reception floor.

We travel alot but have never seen a hotel hoo charges for surfing the net - more then a room cost...

Ironiclly we could say its very low room rate, even though the rate for double room is equal to about 12 hours of serfing the net (72 euro...:).

We think that free (or at least reasonable price) internet connection in the room is elementary , basic and Obvious more then free TV or toilet in the room...

Hotel is in a great location.Right next to the TV Tower. You can see both from most off the city so can find your way back easily.
Check in/out was a bit slow. The rooms are nice but not very practical. The wash basin and shower ( a glass cubicle ) are not in a separate room - they are next to the beds. The toilet is in a cubicle next to them.
Not very private. The hotel does not have air conditioning - even in November it was too warm in the room.
I would not recommend this hotel as there are others in the same location that tick all the boxes for the same/less money.

My partner and I stayed here for 3 nights. It was a good price in a great location, just across from the train station where we arrived from the airport. The check-in queue took 20 minutes however, on a Saturday afternoon. We were warned about the glass shower wall and frosted toilet wall in the rooms, so we weren't too fazed.

Unfortunately, there was no free wifi in the room, and the charges were very high, which was disappointing. They repaired a crack in our toilet seat very efficiently and even offered us a change of room as the repair would not be done until the next morning. The breakfast was immense. I can see what people mean about the staff's demeanour, but we were so busy stuffing our faces that it didn't bother us! I'd recommend this hotel to anyone who is going to Berlin for their first time.
