This was our first visit to Berlin, having booked the hotel for a two night city break. On arrival at the hotel at 10.30am (early flight!), we asked if we could check in, and this was no problem at all, with the receptionist asking us what type of room we would like. She gave us a "larger" room on the 14th floor which - being on the corner and very high up - had fantastic views over Berlin and overlooked the iconic television tower. Yes - the room has an unusual layout due to the bath being close to the bed - but we found it rather quirky and it was spotlessly clean. The bed was very comfortable and there was no noise overnight. There's a lovely cafe bar linked to the hotel that overlooks the main square which is great for breakfast. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

Centrally located, this hotel looks rather better than it actually is. While convenient for shops, museums etc., the rooms are extremely tiny, the showers strange [no drain meant the water flowed all over the room], the curtains aren't thick enough to keep the room dark at 6am, and the food is expensive and not very good. It's not particularly bad, but I doubt if most visitors will ever return as you can find better value elsewhere.

We had booked two double rooms for 3 persons for four nights. On viewing these rooms we could not believe the size deemed suitable for two persons - see through shower and toilet - no privacy. Couple asked to be moved and had to pay 160 euro on top of 421 euro previously paid. The single person was also charged 421 euro for four nights for the box! Each day the swipe card/key failed to work on both lift and room door - a very frightening experience when stuck in lift. How is this hotel room size deemed suitable for two people and have a four star rating is amazing. However seems to have a captive audience as it seems to cater for mainly bus tours due to its proximity to Alexanedrplatz. Query under 'health and safety' in the event of an emergency how would one exit this hotel safely?

First, all the positive notes: Beautiful rooms. Beautiful location. Beautiful view! and all at a good price!

Now the rest....
The woman who checked us in seemed to have a chip on her shoulder. Not very pleasant. Not sure if its a german thiing or what.

They charge you for EVERY LITTLE THING! Internet (18 euro for 24 hours), if you want a room with a better room, (they're doing construction on one side of the hotel so they stick everyone on that side and then charge you 10 euro a night to switch to the other side.

The breakfast is 20 euro and it is rubbish! I strongly recommend you skip the crap hotel stale food and grab a coffee and a doughnut at dunkin' donuts in alexanderplatz train station.

It is close to the TV tower where most tours meet. Practically next to the to the their subway system (S+U Bahn). You can walk to museums around there. The only thing weird abou this hotel is the restroom. It's right next to the shower which is all glass but you can pull a curtain all the way to cover it. The restroom wall is very thin and you can see the shadow of whoever is in it and hear everything! I mean everything, so me and my husband would turn on the tv so we would have more privacy. When going to a restaurant be prepared to wait 10min or more before the waiter ask for your drink and order. We learned to be ready with our order when the waiter ask for our drinks because you sometimes will wait 15-20 min for the waiter to come back around. So don't wait to go eat right when you are hungry. There is not a lot of variety in foods in Berlin. Most of the food has to do with sausages, sauerkraut, potatoes and meats. The only seafood you can find is sushi. We would eat breakfast in the restaurant under the hotel by the Burger King and they had eggs, bacon, toast. There are some bars around the corner of the hotel and some lounges. The hotel bar is good, they have someone playing the piano while you have drinks. The concierge helped us out a lot with finding where we wanted to go. The hotel is in a very safe area so you can walk around late at night. We went on the Third Reich bike tour and that was really good. Also when to the Qi show and that was also good
