“Fine Hotel - Great Location”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

Berlin is a favourite location for my wife and I and we have been to Berlin on several occasions. This time we stayed for a week in the Park Inn on Alexanderplatz. The hotel room was large and comfortable - though the glass walled bathroom took a bit of getting used to. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the restaurant was really good and set us up for the day each morning. Only one slight annoyance - there was no free Internet available even though free Internet access in public areas was advertised on a number of the booking sites. There are plenty bars and restaurants in the area, all within easy walking distance. Overall then, a fine hotel with excellent transport links. I'd definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Try to get a room on floor 22 or above so that you can enjoy the views over the city.

Being in Alexanderplatz you are on top off, or right next to all the communcition routes to help you get around the city. We stayed for 3 nights and felt really comfortable there. Our room wasn't large but, as we were out and about every day for most of the day, it was more than sufficient for the two of us for 3 days to be comfortable. They are very clean and well laid out. We were on the 19th Floor so we had an excellent view of our surroundings. There is with, The Park Inn Alexanderplatz, the inevitable issue of the bathroom facilities, it being seperated only by shaded glass and curtain, but in our opinion it wasn't a big deal as long as you are comfortable with each other. A strategically placed towel and the TV volume up on will help :-) The restaurant/bar is great way to end the day and was always reasonably busy to maintain that big city vibe. Great cocktails! We never took breakfast in the hotel but went out in to the 'Alex' to one of the local cafes as there was plenty of choice close by. Loved Berlin, great city to explore and was very happy that we picked this hotel to base ourselves. Heartily recommend it!!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the TV Tower have a grander view of the tourist city but I wasn't unhappy at being...

we stayed here for three nights, the hotel itself is clean with good location for the areas sites, with the train station directly outside makes life easy, especially if the weather outside is - 10. The room we had booked we changed, we were not aware the "bathroom/toilet was basically divided from the bedroom by a glass wall and a curtain, I guess a "nouveau style" , to be fair not for us so we upgraded t a suit for an extra 40 euros per night and had a more traditional room with separate bathroom and toilet, also in general more room also.

The staff at the front desk were attentive and always polite and helpful, although as one other poster mentioned on an occasion around 8 in the morning a member of staff let themselves into our room.

The buffet breakfast was not bad with a good standard of food, although if not included a little steep at 20 euros per person, but there are other alternatives attached to the hotel if you like.

A personal bug is having to pay extra for services which in today's life should be included, wifi at 18 euros per day, also to go to top view of the hotel, 3 euros per person, seems a silly charge to impose when it is a major selling point for the hotel.

Generally though our stay was good and we enjoyed the hotel, the area is steeped in relatively recent history and if you fancy a walk many things to see on a good day out. The immediate area around the hotel is full of shops and eateries, from basic kebabs, to mexican and higher level restaurants, also within the hotel.

Being right in Alexanderplatz was great for sightseeing as well as shopping. Although it was a bit far away from the convention center via car/bus due to the traffic, it's very close to the train which was only a 25-30 ride. Breakfast was excellent, although they served the same options everyday, there were many options to choose from. As i was there 7 nights, I went through all of the options. Would stay there again.

Room Tip: Make sure if your staying with a "friend" to get the room upgraded to the private bathroom...

We stayed there for two nights last January. The hotel is very well located , very central and just next to the train Station (Alexanderplatz) with a direct Train from Schönefield Airport . It was also at a walking distance from the TV Tower. We choose to stay in a room with view and don't regret it. The view of Berlin was just awsome!
The only minus would be that the toilet was very small and just separated from the main room by a glassdoor. The showeroom was also only glasswalled and did not offer enough intimacy for friends, family or even couple (not so romantic!). The staff were very friendly and efficient.

Room Tip: Choose a room with view. It is really worth it!!!!

Its funny, I have been here for three days now, and have had three experiences where a hotel staff has walked into my room using the master key card. Thankfully I was all dressed, and not in the glass walled bathroom taking a shower, but for a honeymoon couple this experience might not be very pleasant ;)

In case your wondering.. Yes there is a manual latch which you can use to lock your self in with but the German designed version of latches are unlocked using the master key card. So for me if this was a one off incident, I would think of it as a mistake, but three incidents makes it practice.

Room Tip: Take a higher floor you have a free view of the city. The hotel is in a wonderful location.
