Park Inn by Radisson Berlin Alexanderplatz
Ranked #227 of 633 Hotels in Berlin
Reviewed August 28, 2012

There are some positives and some negatives about this hotel.
Positives -
It is overlooking Alxeranderplatz and has a great view of the city.
We had told them that it was our wedding anniversary, and asked for a view of the tower. Which we got, and also got a nice little plate of fruit.
We got complimentary breakfast. A choice of cooked (eggs, tomatoes, frankfurters), continental (cold meats, cheeses) and cereals (muesli, cornflakes, etc). Breakfasts were good, but it did get busy in the dining hall.
The room had a bizarre set up. The toilet, shower and sink we all separate. The sink was in the middle of the room and the shower was right next to the bed. I liked it, but it might be a bit strange to some people.

Negatives -
You have to pay 3 euros to sit on the roof terrace. It should be free for hotel guests, and once up there it is just a tiny little deck. Although you do get to watch people hurl themselves off the roof on the zip line they have up there.
We had asked for a double room (as we were on our wedding anniversary), what we got was two single beds pushed together, and two single duvets. Really not good enough.
The air-conditioning in our room didn't work. Asked at reception twice, and was never resolved. It was really hot in there on a couple of occasions.

As far as a location goes in Berlin this hotel is perfectly situated. Near the Alexanderplatz station for the U-bahn and S-bahn, very walkable to Museum Island and of course the view of the TV Tower right in front of you.

I emailed the hotel before arrival asking for a room with the TV Tower as we were travelling for our anniversary and received 2 very prompt responses letting me know that they were requested. Upon arrival was even congratulated by the front desk staff. Front desk staff were very kind and helpful (unlike what previous posters have said).

The room was very nicely appointed with a great view. The down side was the bed was 2 singles pushed together and the bathroom configuration is a bit bizarre as there is no separate bath room but a toilet room and a shower stall separate with the sink in the room. Wasn't so much an issue for us and it did allow us to both get ready for the day at the same time.

Had breakfast included as well. Breakfast meal is pretty generous buffet with lots of different options. I did find the staff in the breakfast restaurant very rude and unhelpful at all. Asking them anything felt like a chore for them to do.

Overall, I would stay here again in a heartbeat when I go to Berlin again. I would recommend others and I'm very picky about hotels.

Room Tip: Ask for one with a view of the TV tower on a high floor!

Stayed five nights in this hotel for an unbelievable 49 euro per night rate. Located just in the heart of the city in legendary Alexanderplatz with a special atmosphere where you can virtually keep your finger on the pulse of the city. Unlike according to other reviewers our checkin was fast and effective, we also head to ask for a separate sheet although the aircondition was working well and it was arranged quickly. The room is beautiful and stylish, I personally loved the glass bathroom block although it does reveal everything. I was with my husband and our marraige want hurt by this degree of privacy...but the lack of shelves and places to apck away clothes means more danger to the best of marriages.Nevertheless, being a woman I would always sacrifice practical things for style. The beds were comfortable, as already said aircon working perfectly, and housekeepng was efficient and never disturbed us. Also we could hear nothing from the corridor or neighbouring rooms. The base jumping took place in front of the window of the next room, but it is not disturbing at all and is very spectacular. Also we stayed on the 15th floor and the view from the room is just amazing. we had one hour of free internet per day for bookng over the internet. we did not have breakfast or eat at the hotel, but there are plenty of places to eat on Alexanderplatz, and I also recommend Hackesher Markt, next stop with the S-bahn, especially on Thursdays and Saturdays when there is a market with lots of great food, but also for a dinner on one of the terraces with ive music from street artists. The hotel is also close to everything, the museums, sights, dining places, department stores, etc...All in all, this hotel has everything you need for a short getaway to Berlin.

Room Tip: When booking the room, even if you go for the cheapest option ask for a room on a higher floor. The...

We stayed there this July. The hotel most positively has a great location (close to the public transport) but other than that not worth the money one pays for a 4-star hotel. We had asked for a double bed, they in turn joined two single beds, which was extremely uncomfortable.Air conditioning was not at all great and made the room pretty stuffy!! Efficient check-in & check-out.
I would suggest to look somewhere else, there are plenty of hotels around

If you want to take a bath looking what is happening at the street, that is the place to be. The huge Park Inn by Radisson Berlin Alexanderplatz (I read there's more than 1000 apartments) is not that kind of charming and cozy hotel to rest. It's a really business-intended hotel: the word is functional. As you are in Germany, it is clean. Staff is correct, but you must know they have a crowd to look after - there's also a fairly long line at the main counter. It is well-located, not in a glamourous area for the truth sake, and by night the surrounding areas might be too dark and apparently dangerous. Bathrooms are the opposite you would expect in this sort of business hotel: they are for you to stay alone, or with your wife/husband: they're are made of glass. Feel yourself inside an aquarium. No privacy at all. Breakfast is very good. You can have it close to the lobby area or in the roof top. My advise: choose the modern and beautiful ground coffee.

The hotel staff was very unhelpful with any questions. We waited for hours to get the room. Lots of problems with our reservation. Hotel is noisy and not quite clean, but that does not compare to the problems we had with the staff. This was a business trip and for the next 5 times we choose to stay at Ibis and it was 10 times better.
My advice is to look somewhere else, there are plenty of hotels around.

Very nice hotel in a good location, well positioned for the very efficient public transport (s-bahn, u-bahn,bus and tram all outside the hotel.
Efficient check in and out. Compact room, very clean, beds very comfy, a bit snug, air conditioning a bit feeble (it was about 38 degrees outside), DID NOT LIKE the bathroom in the room..I had travelled with my son so the lack of privacy was an issue for both of us- at least the toilet had a door!
The bars were good if a little expensive..the terrace bar on the 40th floor gave great views of the city.
All staff encountered were lovely and very helpful...
Overall a good place to base yourself for a city break but the bathroom (maybe it's a "wall thing" in Berlin) would stop me staying there again
