“Cheap and Cheerful”
Reviewed July 10, 2014

Ideal location, helpful staff and very cheap for the area. Although there was no luxury the essentials were there, good water pressure, OK beds. Not a hotel to sit around in but definitely great for exploring Berlin.

This hotel is just of the main shopping street of Kurfurstendam, so it is right on the bus and underground routes. Although the room was a good size, the bathroom was very small and so was the shower, but we weren't in it for long. Breakfast was plentiful, with different types of bread and rolls, cold meats, cheeses, hot selection, cereals, yogurts and fresh fruit. Fruit juice, tea and coffee are also available. The breakfast room doesn't look too big, but the staff are more than happy to open another door that leads to more tables, so there is always room. Reception staff are very friendly and helpful, they even gave us some suggestions for a bar on our arrival. There is a little coffee shop/café attached to the reception area, and though we didn't use it, it does do a wide range of hot and cold food with drinks to go with it. This is open from 10am -10pm.

The beds were a little too soft for our liking, but we didn't spend much time in them. There is a TV, bottle of water, alarm clock and telephone in the room, and the bathroom had towels, soap and hair/body wash, along with a very good hairdryer.

The hotel is a two minute walk from the bus stop where the 109 stops; this bus takes you to the zoo gardens where more buses or underground trains can take you anywhere. There is an excellent supermarket three doors away from the hotel - good quality cheap beer, crisps, snacks, chocolate etc.

Some of the photos of the hotel show worn out furniture, but this is not the case. There are new leather sofas and chairs in the reception area, the dining furniture is very good and the furniture in the rooms is also plentiful and good quality.

To get to the hotel from the underground, get off at Adenauerplatz and make sure you have the Kurfustendam Hotel on your left. Walk along the main street for about three minutes to Olivaer Platz, turn right and the hotel is about 50 metres from the first turning on the right.

This hotel looked good online and seemed like a bargain, but when i got there i realized it looked cheap and very old fashioned. Most of the staff were very friendly and attended to every detail to make your stay enjoyable a part from one staff member who was racist to me even though he was Russian himself and not German. Sleeping in the beds were like sleeping on concrete and honestly would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Breakfast was a nightmare, they had a buffet but all i could see what they had was bacon and sausages, they do not cater for vegetarians. Honestly what a disappointment this place was for me and never again would i stay in this hotel!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The hotel was fine... though our room smelt musty, bought popourie and scented candles.......took the edge off things. LOCATION BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Every thing is easy to get to from here. Supermarket only 3 doors away, wine so cheap, for early doors in room....if you find you have no fridge....check your window ledge.....
Great Cuban bar & rest below also, great italien place opposite. ALLin all good place

Room Tip: no comment .....the beds were really comfy... it was fairly quiet.....very warm.....hot water...

Cheap & cheerful, looks a bit shabby but family room massive with en-suite. Café downstairs sells beer, snacks and coffee until 10pm. Breakfast buffet, continental plus hot selection, usual affair-bacon never compares to GB?Woman in lift with plate of fried fish one morning-very strange. Very busy one day, get in early. Good central location 3mins walk to posh shops on Kudamm. Avoid at all costs Olive Italian Restaurant (across the road on Olivaer Platz - we waited ages for the bill, when it arrived I noticed that 2 x main meals were not actually ours! the waiter apologised then spent another 5 minutes messing with the figures, then said a total and swiftly took copy of the bill! Others in Hotel said they were charged £24 for a chardonnay, which did not appear to be a chardonnay! Food was good but wouldn't go back!

Room Tip: Family room 312 no complaints

The worst hotel i have visited in 20 years, we booked 2 double rooms.... we were so disappointed I could not describe it, the word service is non existent in this hotel, every question asked at the receptionist was I dont know, the whole team there is foreigners and can hardly speak German or English, I love to know who was the person in this hotel that gave good service, because I can t believe the people that wrote positive comments. WE WILL NEVER VISIT THIS DUMP ever AGAIN

Room Tip: i would look for something better and pay more but never again in this dump

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon. The staff were fantastic and accommodating. We had to move hotels in the beginning due to a flight centre mistake. By far the best decision we made. The view from our room was beautiful and everything was just a short walk to either restaurants, train stations or shopping centres. We loved it.
