I wish I had done the tour as soon as I had arrived in Berlin-it gave me a framework in which to understand everything else. Rob W. met us as the Brandenburg Gate and for the next 3.5 hours I was captivated. Rob's voice, choice of words and knowledge of Berlin was mesmerizing. His stories about the people and events of the city were carefully drawn but nevertheless succinct. Don't be put off by the 3.5 hours of walking - you don't spend that long walking.
Our group consisted of about 37 people and we had the most perfect Spring weather to enjoy Berlin at its best. I would have done a tour with Rob next day but I had run out of time. Don't make that mistake when you go - do this tour first thing. The free tours are at 1100 and 1300 everyday starting at Starbucks.

We were rather happy to be with fabolous Inken. Meeting in front of the Brandenburg Gate, Inken introduced herself and told us how the trip is going to funkction(concerning pauses, sites which are going to be visited etc.) which i found to be of the essential imoportance for one. At the first glance, she made an ever-lasting impession of an intelligent and very communicative girl. She was extremely informative and pleasant. She had no problems answering all sorts of questions whereas, she was also atempting to engage us to share our personal worldwide experiences(albeit most of which were rather shy). Another point where mentioning was the fact that she also gave us enough some free time to experince breath-taking insights and to refresh at a fabolous cafe at the Friedrichstrasse. Finding out a lot, Inken left us with a feeling of content and joy and as a whole, my family and me just wanted to say THANK YOU !

Meeting at Starbucks in front of the Brandenburg Gate, our guide George introduced himself and gave us an idea of the length of the tour and the things we would see. Our first introduction to the sights was the surrounding Embassies and a history of the figure atop the Gate. We visited at least 15 of the major sites in Berlin and at each stop were given a comprehensive history. The guide was excellent, an American who was passionate about Berlin and was able to answer any question posed. As well as the history of the sites we were given time for photographs and reflection. George not only gave us facts but impressions and unbiased feelings from which we could make our own judgements. A 20 minute break for coffee, food or toilet three quarters of the way through the tour was more than welcome. One of the best free tours we have ever done. Well worth whatever tip you can afford.

A most enjoyable 3.5 hours learning the history of Berlin with George as our guide. The pace was comfortable, the explanations detailed coupled with a deal of humour. Over the next few days we revisited all of the sites to gather more insight. Please remember that these guides live on their tips so be generous and pay what they are worth.

Sam was an excellent tour guide! Very friendly, informative and happy to answer any questions. Obviously a very intelligent person and has amazing knowledge. The sights were great and gave us some ideas of where else to visit while we are in Berlin.
