In the times of National Socialism this was a modern, innovative airport. After the War, it was the terminus of the Air Bridge that supplied West Berlin during the first and longest Soviet Blockade. Since the site is within the city, it is no longer used for commercial travel. Instead, it has been turned over to the citizens as a place for recreational aviation purposes, within the city. History aside, this is also worth seeing.
