Description: In the historic revolving restaurant, Sphere, towering 207m above the city, you can experience Germany's highest culinary tour. Indulge yourself with refined Berlin cuisine from morning till night. So take a seat on the comfortable burgundy chairs and let l yourself be spoiled by the special ambience. The mixture of modern design and retro chic, a "starry sky" on the ceiling as a musical accompaniment on the piano creates a very special flair. The rotating platform also includes an unforgettable 360 ° city tour. Nowhere else can you get an overview of the whole of Berlin!

We went there just for the view, we didn’t try the restaurant.
The entrance for the view is 12 eur, there is quite a waiting line, so you usually need to buy your tickets in advance and come back later (1 hour or more… + you also wait about ½ hour to buy the tickets).
They don’t allow any liquids on top, so you’ll have to empty your backpakers’ water bottles before (you can have an empty bottle).
He trip is worth it because of the view of the city; it is a great way to get the idea of the whole city, it’s size and the differences between the eastern and western part.
For the whole picture of the city also visit the dome above the parliament (Reichstag), which is free and located at the other end.

I had not been in the Berlin TV tower since 1979 and I was looking forward to do it again. We had booked a table for lunch, which turned out to be a good idea as there were a 2 hours waiting time to enter the tower if you had not booked. Booking a table was perfect because it gave us a priority ride all the way to our table and I can only recommend others to do it.

The Panorama area is located 203 meters above ground and the restaurant is situated only 4 meters higher or one floor up. The restaurant measures 32 meters in diameter and it is actually turning 360 degrees in just about 30 minutes. In the old days it was only once an hour but when they modernized they increased the speed to twice the speed.

The two lifts are quite fast travelling 6 m/s and you arrive at the panorama level less than 40 seconds after you entered the lift. The tower was opened the 3rd October 1969 and even though they refurbished the interior it was pretty easy to recognize the old feeling.

A piece of advice is that you have to use your ticket to both enter and exit the tower.

Well, the idea is to have a meal with stunning views on the top of the dazzling 207 meters TV tower on Alexanderplatz. It works and I do think everyone should try it - specially in the night.
The food had a beautiful presentation and was tasty, we enjoyed a lot. But the staff was a little rude, althought it seems to be more likely the german standard (we've seen that in other places as well). For instance, we order a prosecco and when the waiter brought it he started that little ritual of pouring a sip in the glass and wait for the patron aprove it. As we don't know a thing about wine, we politely said to him that it was ok, no proves needed and he could serve the prosecco right away. He just refused in a something harsh manner and insisted for us to do it, so we did as we did not want to make a big scene on this.
But my major concern goes to the internet reservation: I STRONGLY recommend to book personally (as Alexanderplatz is always on the way to several attractions) or by phone (but they don't answer this one very often). Although we confirmed the date and hour period on their reservation internet system, the vouchers they sent us by email had nothing to do with what we booked (including a date in the distant future that was not even showing up on their calendar yet!). After we complained, they send us a voucher for the correct date but in a different hour, which was impossible for us as we had previous appointments (they claimed it was impossible to give us the time we booked first, because now they were fully booked for the day). We had to insist, try to reach them by phone, send a coupke emails until they finally agreed in give us what we booked in advance.
Nonetheless, it was a very good experience.

Pre-booking a VIP tickets are modestly priced and can avoid lots of queuing (print them at home, even!). They also give the option to have a meal in the revolving restaurant - an excellent idea! Fixed prices for 2 or 3 courses on a busy Saturday evening, with excellent options and chef's specials. This is the best cripy Duck I have ever tasted!!

My wife and I visited the tower restaurant for meal out together.

It's not the most romantic restaurant as there are tables of 4 by the window and a table for 2 next to the those.

The view is still good from the table for 2 although you are looking over the table by the window all the time but I didn't mind that too much.

This is the first time I have eaten in a revolving restaurant, it's certainly an experience to remember, albeit not a cheap one.

We arrived about an hour before sunset which was perfect, we had a look around the observation deck and had a cocktail at the bar then went upstairs to the restaurant and watched the sunset over Berlin. Perfect.

The staff were brilliant and the service was quick, I've read you get 1 hour at your table but we were there much longer and we weren't asked to leave, perhaps it depends on how busy they are.

The food was great but not cheap, but the waitress advised us to share a starter because they were large and I'm glad we did!

I expect to pay a premium for the location to be honest, but you also have to pay to go up the tower even if you have a restaurant reservation.

I'd recommend booking a table online well in advance as we saw people being turned away who just turned up.

All in all, it's not a cheap night out but it's good food and well worth the experience.
