“Excellent food”
Reviewed March 16, 2013 via mobile

Some of the best sushi we ever had, and such a cozy little place. The owner had great stories to tell about the fish and his restaurant, and the food was not expensive.
Highest recommandations.

“Great atmosphere, delicious food”
Reviewed February 20, 2013

Walking to Gingi's last night we passed one restaurant after the other. To survive 10 years in this competitive environment is quite an achievement. After spending the evening at Gingi's it was clear why he has done so well for so long: it's genuinely fun to go there. It's been renamed and the translation means "Gingi's bar". It's little more than that: about 6 high stools and 5 tables in a quaint old room with high ceilings with elegant stucco. Gingi, we discovered, is from a Turkish fishing family on the Prince islands and he knows everything about fish! Especially how to choose it and prepare it. As a result the menu is very small but eminently tasty. We had the menu so we started with a fish soup. Then we shared the luxury sashimi platter. After that came a sushi roll and then two Tapases (we chose octopus and duck but there were other choices). The wine was delicious and the service really attentive. But above all the convivial atmosphere generated by the host made this a special culinary experience. His passion is infectious. I can't fault this restaurant and I'm definitely going back again. Highly recommended.

“A small gem”
Reviewed January 27, 2013

If you love Japanese cuisine then you will love this restaurant. We asked the chef to serve us what he thought would be good and we ended up having one of the best meals ever. I could not fault the food even if I tried, although one of the dishes was unusual but still good and worth trying.
Couple of things to bare in mind: location is in a residential neighbourhood so taxi is recommended and reservation is highly recommended since the place is tiny (max 20 people).

“Love for fish”
Reviewed November 22, 2012

Picked because of the good ratings, I enjoyed an excellent, slightly different, Japanese meal, that started with sashimi (of dorade, of red fish), followed by small bites of salmon and delicious gyozu of shrimp (Japanese dumplings), and "inside out" sushi that contained river eal. The choice of wine was limited, but the quality was fine. Prices were very reasonable (or should I say cheap, we payed 63 euros for a meal, two large bottles of sparkling water and six glasses of wine). On top of all this, the owner is an intriguing charmer. Well, who could resist?
