A vegetarians nightmare! A very busy and clearly popular bar/restaurant serving good traditional German food ie mainly pork! Great atmosphere and good food, it won’t win any awards but great for an authentic taste of Germany.

We visited to get a taste of a real German restaurant and meal. The restaurant is large and noisy and fun. Very BUSY SO MAKE A RESERVATION.
Two of us shared a huge excellent pork hock and there was enough left for the next days meal. Others had excellent sausages.
Service efficient, friendly and very good English.
In terms of the comments about paying to use the toilet. There was a tray for contributions but no need to toss anything in and no one asking. I did not.

Very good place for wurst, mash potatoes and sauerkraut. Great selection of beers. Most attentive and efficient service, polite and helpful. Also very centrally situated.
Comprehensive menu with an interesting wine list.
Excellent value for your money.

It’s a good location, if slightly unexpected to have Bavarian (rather than Berliner) beer and cuisine close to Unter den Linden in the heart of old Berlin. Don’t expect a range of local beers and cuisine (though currywurst is on the menu), and we found that service wasn’t too efficient. But hey, these Bavarians know how to do good beer and sausages, with a spot of mashed potatoes and sauerkraut thrown in, whether or not you were after the authentic Berlin experience. But, with that caveat, they do their core products well. If that’s what you want, you won’t be disappointed.

We had a great meal here. Started with a nice pretzel. Went with the pork knuckle which is deep fried here and HUGE!! So much meat versus the smaller roasted version that you find in Prague. Much prefer this version. Had a couple of the beers, all the styles we had were good. If you look at the pics you know exactly what to expect here. Would return if I ever come across another Augustiner.
