We had to wait five minutes for a table (as we had been warned by the concierge of our hotel), but it was worth it! The place was full all night. Prices are reasonable and service is good. Would happily go back!

“Excellent Bavarian kitchen in a beer hall”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 20, 2013

The place seemed to be full occupied at all times, but the efficient waiters always found us a table. The oldest brewery in Münich provides several sorts of beer. The service is excellent. You will have your drink in minutes and the food will follow 5-10 minutes later. The rather heavy kitchen is surprisingly light and the potato dumplings (Klopse) or the fried potatoes (Bratkartoffeln) is often accompanied with a fresh Sauerkraut (chocroute, sour cabbage?) or other cabbage, often with some cumin. This accompanies the Hinterhaxe (roasted pigs leg) or other Bavarian delicatessen. The prices are a pleasant surprise. I really would recommend this for anyone who wants to try German cuisine in general and especially Bavarian cooking.

“Great food at a great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2013

Our family dined at Augustiner am Gendarmenmarkt in August 2013, and we had a thoroughly wonderful meal. Recommended are the pig knuckle for dinner and the apple strudel for dessert. I also recommended having their signature Augustiner beers. We had such a fine meal, we returned for dinner a second time during our stay in Berlin.
