“Great location, good hotel”
Reviewed February 25, 2013

My husband and I just returned from our stay in Berlin and we had a wonderful time. We arrived early last Saturday (2/16/13) and a room was ready for us. The hotel is cool, when you walk in there are some neat paintings on the walls and this cool wood carved bannister. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful when we asked questions about the buses and trains. We took a cab from the airport upon arrival, don't do that. Take the bus, the X9 or the 109 leave you right by the hotel and its only 2,40 euros a person rather than the 80 euros we paid for car service. We traveled to Paris on this trip too so we took the bus to the airport and back and then again when we left for the States. Anyway, the room was ready when arrived, it was pretty basic, huge windows and high ceilings, antique looking furniture like a secretary desk and armoire. The bathroom was small but clean. The wifi wasn't working while we were there but we used the lobby computer and that was just as well. We had the buffet breakfast on Sunday; it was pretty basic- eggs, croissants, fruit, juices, coffee, teas, cold cuts. The hotel is located by Kurfürstendamm and it has plenty of shopping for people who love to shop on vacation. It is also a couple of blocks to the Zoologischer Garten S + U bahn stops. You can get a lot of trains from this station to take you where you have to go. Use them, they are clean and safe and very affordable to go from one end of Berlin to another. If we got another good deal with this hotel we would definitely come back, it provided us with a good starting point to take in all of Berlin.

The entrance of the hotel is not on the Kurfürstendamm, but its location is so close that the name is justified. Great location! Especially the view from the breakfast room on the Kurfürstendamm is a wonderful start in the day. Breakfast is good but can be very crowded and somewhat choatic but staff really tries hard to keep up. Part of the hotel is quite old with historic parts visible in the interior. It is a bit of a mixed bag; I was apparently lucky with my almost new room, but there seem to be a lot of older rooms with old furniture as well. The hotel is not suitable for disabled due to stairs and steps. Staff is very helpfull and Wifi is free. Really recommended for location and standard as long as you get a good room......

Room Tip: ask for one of the renovated rooms because there seem to be a lot of old ones as well.....

Very good choice if you´re visiting Berlin. The bus from airport comes straight to the hotel and metro station is just few meters away. The biggest shopping street is just around the corner. Hotel itself was clean and comfy and the oild building is beautiful. Rooms were quite small though but it didn´t really matter. I would definitely recommend this ;) And hey, free WiFi!!!!

Being in a hotel just between the Waldorf Astoria and the Swissotel, at a fraction of the cost of either of them, is kind of a nice feeling. You can't go wrong in terms of location. The place is kind of old, even though kind of "maintained" and slightly retouched here and there,... Honestly, there is significantly better Hotels in Berlin at a similar rate,... but not that beat the location. Period.

Stayed at this hotel with my partner for NY 2012/2013 after recommendation from a friend and it did not disappoint! The rooms are a great size: comfy bed, old fashioned wardrobes, mini bar (although local supermarket is SO cheap), clean and modern bathroom, quiet rooms (and we were next to the lift) and loads of space to relax. My only complaint (and being British this took off one star) is there are no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, which should be standard. The staff couldn't be nicer or more helpful, particularly the gentleman manager who suggested us some great restaurants and was lovely throughout our stay! The hotel is right between two of the main underground stations as well as close to the bus station so is great for getting around the city. If you don't want to travel Azimut is Right by loads of shops and some great restaurants and bars! Also, the local supermarket (next to the main underground) is SO cheap (excuse the homeless - I think they have some kind of bottle exchange at the supermarket), you can get German Beer for less than €0.50 and all the Haribo you could wish for!
Overall, perfect if you don't mind going out for a brew!
(They didn't have a pool it is forcing me to rate is so this is my assumption).

Room Tip: They're all good! Check in isn't 'til 3pm but you can check in before and they mind your...

The hotel itself is interesting and well situated if you need to be in the centre. Its close proximity to the trainstation (zoo) and being within walking distance to just about all metro lines does come at a price. The train viaduct is situated in front of the hotel and if your room is there then you will be woken up in the early hours by the train. No alarm required therefore.
As others have mentioned it is not user friendly if you cannot walk the stairs. There are lots of them and it is a bit of a rabbit warren of halls.

However the breakfast is great and the people are friendly and helpful. The area is lively and full of people. My room was large (huge), nice and very clean. For a short break worth it.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back. The street is noisy but ok It is the train in the morning that got me.
