Never disappointing. Very slick and sexy hotel. Brilliant location, close to everything from a tourist and business perspective. Could also be a good destination for a trip with kids. Staff are helpful, also good internet access.
Loads of great restaurants within walking distance.

Room Tip: Get a room over-looking the square.

Went to Berlin with my fiancee for a week-end in June. The purpose of the trip was to see the Depeche Mode concert at the Olympiastadion, do some shopping and enjoy this fascinating city last visited six years ago. The location of the hotel is great next to the lively but yet calm Gendarmenmarkt, which hosts several restaurants and bars. We went for a luxury room which surely met our expectations regarding comfort. The Nespresso-machine was a nice initiative. Having stacked up on chocolate from the Ritter Sport-store around the corner we were all set. As with previous Sofitel-encounters we had no complaints about the service and the breakfast buffet was just overwhelming. Overall this might not be the bargain of a lifetime but a sure bet for a pleasant Berlin-stay.

for the children. the children with free breakfast and their room being much cheaper.
a great deal and worth reccomending.

The hotel sits in a quiet street opposite the attractive Gendarmenmarkt, and is within walking distance of most of Berlin's main attractions. Its understated exterior is complemented by a modern, softly lit interior, quiet corridors, and attractive modern décor. Public areas are small, and there is no bar (mini bar in rooms with reasonable prices). The hotel adjoins an Austrian restaurant, which is separately owned, but there are a number of good restaurants around the Gendarmenmarkt. The excellent Augustiner is one block away, serving authentic local dishes and a good range of draught beers from its own brewery. There is a good breakfast buffet in the hotel, serving until 11am, and midday on weekends - however, at 28 euro per person, it's rather expensive!

We asked for a quiet room, and were given a corner one facing the inner courtyard, on the 6th floor. An entrance lobby separated the bedroom and bathroom, and there was a minibar and Nespresso machine with coffee and tea . Flatscreen tv on large turntable, with excellent range of channels and entertainment. The air conditioning was not very effective, and the room soon became warm (even in November), but we could easily open a window onto the quiet courtyard for cool air. The bed was large, and fairly firm. This was a "Luxury" room, which is one grade up from the standard, and consequently a little larger.

The staff were extremely pleasant, friendly and helpful, taking time at check-in to provide a city map, and mark out some of the main points of interest. We would happily return here when visiting Berlin in future.

Room Tip: Upgrade to luxury room for more space. Inner courtyard very quiet.

I would have expected more from a Sofitel. The rooms are small and cramped and for the price there are better places in Berlin. The toilet in the room had an unpleasant smell. The location is good. Service is ok but not extraordinary. I also stayed at the Kempinski and the service was far more superior. The Nespresso machine in the room is a great idea although mine was not working. When I told the reception the answer was a simple "ok". Breakfast was delicious and abundant.

Stayed here over the Easter weekend. The place was a bit far to walk from the station if you have some luggage. Best to take a taxi. However the location is quite good to do some walking and sightseeing.

Hotel itself was pleasant. All staff were kind and very helpful. The room we had though was VERY small. If you have some luggage, I suggest don't get the Classic Room. Otherwise you will be tripping over luggages if you are a tall (190cm) guy like my husband. The bed in the room was very comfy, and the bathroom were really good. The only reason this place didn't get a 5 was because of its classic room being soo small and not being close to a main station. But I chose this hotel because it was close to a Catholic Church since we were there for Easter. It was very close. This was a great hotel to stay. I would definitely stay here again.
