We stayed in the hotel for 5 nights and came home today at 31. of may. The experience was mixed and it was by far the worst 4 star hotel i have stayed in.
The good sides with this hotel is the very central location, that is close to both public transportation with S-Bahn or U-Bahn, shopping opportunities and also some good restaurants.
Also the hotel breakfast was good, with options to make fresh Belgian waffles and a good selection of different food. Also friendly kitchen staff although they are way to eager to take your plate even if you are not 100% finished.
The rooms are quite large and got a decent standard.
The drawbacks are as others have mentioned very hot rooms with not sufficient working A/C. The first night we had to change room due to an unbearing heat that made it impossible to sleep. The new room was also hot, altough several degrees more chill, but we did not want to move room again so we stayed there for our entire stay. We was never asked if it was ok either after the first nights move so did not seem like the staff cared to much as long as we did not complain. This was even during our stay when it was mostly raining, so if you are thinking of going in a hot summer day in june/july/august and like us cant open the window at night because you got a kid, or you cant sleep yourself when listening to the loud S-bahn. Then just don't go to this hotel as you would melt away.
The other main drawback is the so called free-wifi. It is so slow it is just a hoax. Even trying to google places to visit in Berlin is so slow it literately can take 30 seconds for your hits to show up. Making the internett useless and the whole thing just a big hoax. The fact that i feel this is false advertising really draw back on the score I am giving, as we the Wifi was a reason why we picked this hotel we ended up feeling tricked into a hotel we would not choose. The reason why we wanted internet was because we traveled with our 1 years old, meaning we had to find the bed quite early and it would be great to watch a movie on Netflix togheter before us parents finding the bed as well, but with 60 kbit speed. Yes 60Kbit, like we had in 1995, we did not even try to stream a 1080p movie as even youtube is out of that connections league.
The worst thing tough, was the cleaning. I felt the room was a bit dirty and that the cleaning was awful. We found snot on our bedside (which was 2x single beds put together and not a proper double bed), pubic hear in the bathtub (that not once during our stay got cleaned and in general found the cleaning to be of an awful standard.
If you top this with an just average friendly front desk staff the hotel does not stand out in a positive way in any ways. Our stay was OK, but nothing more. We had a great time in Berlin, but that was more despite the hotel than because of it as we felt after our stay that we could spend our money a lot better other places.
And finally I have to give credit to the front desk person working our first night when we was trouble with the A/C. Great service and just the attitude you love to find with service personell. If the rest of the hotel was of the same quality I would go there again.
