“Decent hotel, limited facilities”
Reviewed August 23, 2013

Facilities for business travellers aren't great, no iron or ironing board, internet access costs money, and the German obsession with unmade beds.

The staff were friendly and as always, spoke fluent English. It is next to a tram station and local bus routes which is useful for connections and getting about the city. Breakfast was nice but limited dinner facilities meaning wandering out at night to find local restaurants, reception were quite helpful in this regard.

Room Tip: Inner courtyard is quiet but doesn't have the view

Dear George S,
thank you for taking the time to share your experience in our hotel. We are glad that you honorably mention our friendly, helpful staff, our good location and our breakfast buffet. Unfortunately our rooms are not equipped with irons but we do offer irons and ironing boards and even an ironing service upon request. In order to keep our room rates as low as possible at the highest possible service level we have decided not to include the price of the internet in our best flexible rate. For our business guests and those who set value on the internet connectivity we do also offer our business package which already includes full WIFi access. Additionally our business corner in the lobby offers free WIFI 24 hours a day.Once again we would like to thank you and hope to welcome you back in our hotel some time in the future.

Had ordered two nights at the end of our holiday. The ad said there was air con. but unfortunately it did not work in the room we got. The hotel was full so all they had to offer was a fan which did at least provide for some circulation during the hot Berlin night. Sleeping with the window open was out of the question as Prenzlauer Allee is very busy. The next day though we were provided with a new room and a drink as a compensation. Overall I was impressed with the staffs helpfulness and efficiency. All in a very kind and proffessional manner. Kudos to them.
Rooms were good and clean. Bathrooms had been refurnished to get rid of bath tubs. Provided for some rather large shower cabins.
No on site restaurant but a good sushi bar is located nearby on Prenzlauer Allee and a bit further down there is a nice chinese restaurant. The breakfast buffet on the other hand was huge and truly delicious.
Location is good with a short tram ride taking you to Aleander Platz. Parking might pose a problem though if you come by car. We did, however, manage to find a place to park nearby. Also after having visited a friend. 60 euro cents pr hour from 0900-2400 hours.

The thermostat in the room seemed to be going all the way below 20°C but no cold air ever came. We left the windows open the whole 6 nights as it was cooler outside at night. Asides from that, the bathroom had a moldy smell and mildew in the (fairly new looking) shower stall. Friendly staff, come through on all requests (except fans). Breakfast buffet good value, but uninspiring. Some wait staff still with GDR attitudes.

We were a party of 14 ladies staying for four nights and when we arrived just before mid day 5 of our rooms were ready . The other two rooms were available quite soon after. Although we had booked twin rooms 4 of the rooms were infact double beds with single duvets, which could be a problem for some travellers so I would check on arrival that you do in fact have a twin bedded room if this is what you requested. The staff were extremely polite and friendly and went out of their way to ensure our stay was comfortable, our fridge broke down and was replaced immediately. Wifi is free for one hour daily and staff were helpful in setting this up for us "non i.t. minded ladies". The air conditioning in the rooms is of a poor standard but this was helped in our case by staff providing a fan for our room. The rooms are spacious and very clean, and the good sized bathrooms have a large walk in shower, our towels were changed daily. The buffet breakfast was lovely and provided bacon and eggs as well as the traditional continental assortment of meats, cheeses, fruit etc., a bonus for us as we had not expected hot food and the service was once again excellent. The hotel is slightly out of town but there is a tram stop outside and a train station nearby along with a few shops, restaurants and bars. This is a nice friendly hotel in a good location and well worth a second visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back, its a little quieter

Staff was really good to let us check in really early as I arrived with a migraine! Room was comfortable and spacious, though the air conditioning was a little unreliable. Breakfast buffet was ok - reasonable food but excellent service. Good location too with nice bars and restaurants nearby as well as a tram stop opposite and an underground station 5 mins walk away.

Stayed 3 nights in July 2013. The hotel is centrally located just across the street from a tram stop (tram 4 if remembered correctly) and 20-25 minutes from the HBF. Loved the area, indeed seemed alot like the East Village of New York -- clearly East Berlin is where the action is. The hotel itself was fine if perhaps a little "business-like". Rooms of good size, modern, comfy bed. Good reception area with efficient check-in (wi-fi a little expensive but this seems typical for Germany). The breakfast spread was typical German but generous in its offerings with lots of fresh fruit, cheeses, meats, breads, etc. The gym was horrid but this was the only negative. For the price this is a great deal and the location was spot-on.

Room Tip: While road noise is modest, higher floors are quieter.

stayed in this hotel for 7 nights. Unfortunately there was no possibility of booking cancellation. I booked a room for one person but I got a room with two narrow beds. The room was not clean, the towels were not replaced regularly. Prenzlauerberg is a very nice neighborhood, but the hotel is located on the outskirts - far from the trendiest areas of the flea market, galleries and cafes. Hotel service is problematic - when I asked a glass of water at the bar which is actually a small corner at the front desk i got a bottle of water in six Euro.
The information I received about sites in the hotel receptionist was of varying quality (depending on the clerk). Have a slow Internet connection free hour only. Payment for the Internet 24 hours is very expensive. Both have nice things to say about the location: 1. Tram station to the city center very close to the hotel. Two. There are plenty of food stores is very large and you can find them cheap everything. It is certainly not enough to bring me back to this hotel again.
