Old hotel in good location close to the Zoologishe Garten. The reception area is very old but it still looks good. Some refurbishment could be done.

I got an old room that was worn out. Old windows with non existent soundproofing, so you heard everything from the street below (including the S-bahn). The bed is uncomfortable and the pillow is pretty bad as well.

Excellent breakfast and the cigarr bar next door is worth a visit.

We stayed at the Savoy hotel for a short shopping trip in Berlin. The hotel has a great location as you are right in the shopping district and is well accessible to S-Bahn and U-Bahn so even going over to Mitte is very fast. I would call Savoy a very "traditional" hotel so if you looking for a design, trendy, modern accommodation, then this is not your pick. The hotel was clean, though rooms are a little outdated and service was not really friendly. The hotel is famous for the Cigar bar which perhaps works for the clientele of the hotel, but personally I did not like the cigar smell every time I walked into a hotel.

Room Tip: Very traditional and perhaps a little bit outdated rooms

I booked a single occupancy room that was a 'deal'. But unfortunately it wasn't...
The room, on a non-smoking floor, located three floors above their cigar bar, smelled of cigar smoke which seemed to be vented throughout that portion of the hotel. A hard and uncomfortable bed, a lack of heat and absurdly tiny towels (two hand towels do not make for a bath towel...) and then rude and dismissive attitudes at both the front desk and housekeeping, made for a very unpleasant stay. Here's the question: do they just not like women business travelers? Or do they just not like American clientele? Or do they simply not give a damn? PASS ON THIS ONE, deal or no deal...

Room Tip: Tip: pass on this tired hotel.

I booked this hotel through e-bookers and should really have done more homework rather than accept the hotel brief from the e-boolers sight. The main problem was although the hotel had a wonderful bar, the bar (and the majority of the bedrroms in the hotel) allow smoking; indeed, the bar itself is a cuban cigar bar. This will be great if you are a smoker but for a non smoker I have to be honest, the place stank! I couldn't believe that I had missed this when booking but when I checked the details again on return it said that the bar had a cuban cigar shop but not that the bar itsel was a smoking lounge. It did spoil our stay quite considerably as there was no other bar in the hotel so we had to sit in the foyer to have a drink, which was rather chilly being the main entrance and not particularly cosy. I don't want to sound like a complete whinger, as I said if you are a smoker then it will suit you fine. On the positive side the location of the hotel is great, the hotel staff are very friendly and speak very good English and the room we had (depite smelling of stale smoke) was large and comfortable and a fantastic new bathroom had been fitted.

Just returned from a three day stay at this delightful hotel. The decor of red and gold gives it a really luxurious feel, and all the staff are impeccably dressed. Our room was quite spacious, more like a mini suite. We had a 4 poster canopy bed, which was very comfy. The bathroom was beautiful, such a large bath, and it all looked brand new, so was really impressed with our room.Free bottle of water each day, and a chocolate each on the pillows were lovely little touches, that added to the charm. The breakfast was amazing, everything you could wish for, even salmon, and smoked salmon. Was not disturnbed by any noise at all so slept well. All the staff are charming, polite and extremely helpful. The best thing of all was the cigar bar. Such a delight to have a drink and smoke in comfort instead of being forced outside, which is the norm in most places, unfortunately now. I LOVE the smell of cigars, so it did not bother me, nor could I smell it outside of the bar. Would definately stay again, and thanks to all who made our stay so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Just ask, they are all so helpful

I arrived late and left early, but everything was ok; even the smell of cigars. I have stayed here many times, and most probably I will be back again. So thank you once more. During the night I woke up several times thanks to sounds from the S-Bahn. Some might not appreciate this. For some strange reason I always do. I was also very greatful when you promised to take care of my suitcase for several days whilst I was travelling in other parts of the world. I am now on my way back to Berlin - and I have been happy to think I have a "koffer in Berlin" I wouldn't mind having it in Savoy hotel

It's got a really nice old charm to this hotel. The smell of cigar smoke from the Havannah bar adjoined to the hotel also makes you feel as if you are stepping back in time. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean. There is a lack of good English language TV channels.

Stay away from the mini bar, it's a rip off. The only complaint I have is that the walls are very thin and you can hear doors closing and people talking in the other rooms, so not a great place to sleep in a little bit to relax in the mornings.

The highlight is going into the Havannah bar and having a quick drink just to absorb the atmosphere (not too much of the smoke) as it's a culture that the UK used to have and does not have any more. I am a big believer of the smoking ban in public places in the UK but there is a really nostalgiac feeling of stepping into a bar with smokers and imagining you could be in the 20th century again. If you are a cigar smoker then you are in heaven as there is a tiny cigar shop within the bar where you can select some of teh finest cubans.
