Owner description: The Berlin Wall Memorial is the central memorial site of German division, located in the middle of the capital. Situated at the historic site on Bernauer Strasse, it extends along 1.4 kilometers of the former border strip. The memorial contains the last piece of Berlin Wall with the preserved grounds behind it and is thus able to convey an impression of how the border fortifications developed until the end of the 1980s. The events that took place here together with the preserved historical remnants and traces of border obstacles on display help to make the history of Germany's division comprehensible to visitors. The memorial is part of the Berlin Wall Foundation, which also includes the Marienfelde Refugee Center Museum, the central site dedicated to the history of flight and emigration in divided Germany. MOBILE TOURGUIDE Visitors to the Berlin Wall Memorial who have a smartphone or a tablet computer with internet access at their disposal have the opportunity to select an individual tour of the memorial grounds for themselves on the memorial's mobile website berliner-mauer.mobi.

This is worth a visit and it has some information about it. It was nice to see and visualize. One not to be missed.

Its just a piece of a wall but it holds such significant place in history. A divided Germany. People died trying to cross it. I had just had to see it for myself. Probably not of interest to the younger people. Can take as little as 5 minutes to look a it or much longer to relect.

You need to go and look for the wall its all around Berlin but there isn't much left its a reminder of the history of the country and that we should never forget what happened here. Looking at the wall i just couldn't image living here when it was put up its just crazy to think that this happened not that long ago. A must see when in Berlin.

This part of the Wall is extremely well preserved and one could get an insight of it was back in the time. The view from above is extremely realistic. A must if you are keen on the Cold War and the history of the Wall.

Not to be missed, a piece of Cold War history and Germany divided exists in Berlin. Located adjacent to checkpoint Charlie, a piece of the DDR lives on. Also nearby, be sure to go to the Mauer museum and look at the old Stasi era cars .
