“Beautiful setting for beautiful music”
Reviewed December 3, 2012

I have always wanted to attend a concert in this historic and beautifully rebuilt concert hall in the Gendarmenmarkt in the Mitte district. I was staying at the Hilton across the street so it involved only a short walk. I attended a Sunday evening concert in the large hall. The Klassische Philharmonie Bonn was the orchestra. The hall was gorgeous and the music and sound was excellent. Every seat was filled. My only complaint was that as the concert progressed, the hall became much too warm and there was no air circulation whatsoever. I chose to leave at intermission because I was beginning to feel ill. I don't know if the heat issue was typical or if there was a specific problem that evening, but it ruined the experience for me. There are four smaller venues in the facility, and there were other concerts going on at the same time. The interior of the building is certainly something to behold.

“Tribute o Sanderling”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

We attended a concert marking the start of a celebration of Sanderling's direction of the Konzerthaus Orchestra - he was born on 19th September 1912. Mitsuko Uchida was a major attraction too but she was indisposed and her part was taken by Jonathan Biss. The conductor for the evening was Ivan Fischer. The hall is handsome and the acoustics, in my view, good. The resident orchestra is very competent. Good restaurants nearby - a convenient u bahn station is StadtMitte.

“Historic atmosphere”
Reviewed September 1, 2012

A really beautiful inside that totally contrasts the grey harsh outside. I wached a conzert in the smaller concertroom in the top. All over there are people ready to help you.
It was truly a special experience.

“Lovely place and great music”
Reviewed August 19, 2012

It is a great place with amazing architecture and grandeur concert halls. Symphonic music played in the hall was equally good to listen. Overall it was a great experience.
