Motel One Berlin Spittelmarkt

Certificate of Excellence

My husband and I spent three nights (9th floor room with view of TV Tower and Berlin Cathedral). The street is busy, but the windows are excellent quality and block the majority of sound from below. The rooms are immaculately clean and a decent size. Be sure to look to the right of the headboard where there is a small open closet area. The built in shelves are convenient for keeping carry-on size luggage off the floor and out of the way. A small "desk" is a good spot to place a larger suitcase if you travel with multiple bags.
The breakfast is very satisfactory. There is a good assortment that should appeal to most appetites. We did locate a small Lidl grocery a few meters up the street (turn left out of the front entrance) if you prefer. Otherwise, we did not locate any backerei nearby. If you enjoy coffee beverages at breakfast then the 7.50 E is an excellent value as you can help yourself to unlimited coffee, cappuccino, latte, espresso, hot chocolate and tea. Juice, fresh fruit, hard-boiled eggs, meats, cheeses, rolls and cereals round out the breakfast assortment.
Staff is super! Professional, but easy-going and will assist with anything you require (extra pillows - no problem).
You cannot beat the location either. Cross one side street and you hope on the U-Bahn that will take you anywhere in the city. If you're staying for multiple days and plan to visit Museum Island and other sites, purchase a Berlin City Card (available from the shoppette at the bottom of the stairway to the U-Bahn). This provides you free, unlimited train and bus transportation for the duration of your pass, free admission to the museums on Museum Island and discounts at most other sites, etc. in the city.
Overall, extremely satisfied with our stay (our first at a Motel One). Will definitely book here again and look forward to trying other locations.

Room Tip: The desk will likely offer city or courtyard. If a higher floor is available, ask for a city view.

spent two nights there with my teenage son and niece. the purpose of our trip was tourism. the rooms are functional, clean and quiet despite the location at a busy intersection. I shared a room with my son which worked well for two nights - for a longer stay the room might feel too small especially since there is no cupboard to hang clothes. The breakfast was copious with fresh fruit salad and fresh bread. The location is very central with subway and bus stop right in front of hotel and major sights within a10 -20 min walk. I would definitely stay there again. Great value for money.

I've stayed there for three nights, and I would say am satisfied. Great location, is is situated next to the busy street, but it has good windows so I have not heard anything, the design of the hotel is really interesing (it has a modern soul) the rooms are clean and cosy - but for a longer stay might be too small, for example there is no wardrobe (only some hangers on the wall), no fridge, and another small disadvantage: breakfast - there were no hot dishes, only ingreadients for sadwitches, eggs, some milk products, musli, tea, coffee (quite good). For me it was ok, but depends on what you expect

Modern, comfortable & clean hotel. Great service - bar open 24 hrs, wifi available for free. the metro station is located just 2 minutes away. Room might be a bit too small if you're staying for long as there is no proper wardrobe. Otherwise would definitely recommend it if visiting Berlin.

Stayed here as we visited Berlin for celebrating the new year. As new year is one of the most busy times in Berlin, the price we paid was comparatively very high (3 figure price, though the advertisements for this hotel suggest that the prices starts from 69 Euros). But since a three figure price would more be an exception rather than norm for this hotel, we need to review this hotel (or motel as they call it!) only as a budget hotel. As a budget hotel, it was a really nice hotel, located in a nice place, with easy access to most of the attractions in Berlin. The design of the hotel is really eye pleasing and staff is very friendly/ efficient. On the negative side, the biggest drawback is the size of the rooms! The room size is very small. Three specific (and easy to implement) suggestions I must make for the hotel management are to (1) provide a coffee/ tea maker in rooms, (2) try to include breakfast in room prices and (3) modify wifi configuration, so that users wont have to type in the complicated userID/ passowrd combination every time your device wakes up from the sleep mode!

Positives: Nice location with excellent public transport connections, Very clean and elegantly designed room, Very good sound proofing, Very friendly and efficient staff

Negatives: Very small room, No coffee/ tea maker in room, Breakfast price (7.5 Euros/ person) was not included in the room price.

It's the cleanest hotel that I have ever been. The prices are good, the location very good and I liked a lot the design of the hotel. Unfortunately they are charging some stuff (internet in the room etc) extra.
