“A safe if uninspiring option for Berlin”
Reviewed November 4, 2013

This hotel is well located in the Mitte district of Berlin with a U Bahn station outside the front door. You probably will need to use it as the surrounding area is a bit soulless in the day and dead at night. Even the beautiful Gendemarkt doesnt really have much going on for a central square.

None of that is of course the fault of the hotel. This is a big, comfy very corporate and business orientated hotel - dont expect the personal touch.
My room was an "Executive plus" - nice enough but ever so slightly disappointing both in size and decoration - would expect a little more from the best rooms in the house. WIFI was a staggering 24 Euro and the mini bar prices eyewatering (presumably why the hotel thought it needed to hold 200Euro on my credit card for 2 nights..despite the room already been paid for!)

Didn't eat in the hotel but the restaurant looked a little dull and expensive (and Berlin is NOT an expensive place to eat out) There is just one bar and whilst expensive, was nicely appointed and got very busy in the evening with German business types on courses and seminars etc.

So far, so mediocre...but what nudged this review into 4* territory was the access to the Club room that comes with Executive room access - this salon had a fantastic free breakfast - rivalling many hotels paid for options and at night the drinks chiller was opened for wine, beer, Sekt and some really quality canapes - honestly there was enough for a full meal. Many people seemed to be making a night of it in there! It saved us a LOT of money over 2 days in Berlin.

This hotel isnt going to set the world alight for you but neither is it going to let you down - without the Executive Club upgrade I would struggle to recommend, but if you can stretch to it then - DEFINATELY

Room Tip: Rooms opposite the Gendemarkt are the best - cost me 15E extra per night to upgrade to one of these...

Although we are of course happy to hear that you have enjoyed the services in our Executive Lounge as well as the view onto picturesque Gendarmenmarkt square, we were sorry to hear that your have rated other aspects of your stay as "mediocre". Indeed public transportation is available right outside the hotel, however, many Berlin's tourist attractions are within walking distance (Brandenburg Gate, Unter den Linden, Museum Island, Potsdamer Platz) of the Hilton. For this reason we actually get a good share of leisure travellers and it is of course our aim to also cater to their needs by providing the "extra personal touch" which you have felt was missing. We hope we'll get the chance to welcome you back one day and prove to you that the Hilton Berlin is a really good choice rather than just a safe and reliable option.

I just came back from Berlin and I spent one night in this hotel. Hotel is located in the best part of the city. Very grand and elegant. The service is as expected from a 5 star hotel. The negative side of the hotel are toms that are too narrow. My wardrobe was very small and when I tried to open the door I could not properly open it due to the fact that there was not enough space in between wardrobe and the wall. I even hit my toes several times with the door. One would think I have learnt my lesson after second hit, but wherever I stood door hit me. Bed was great and cushions were so soft and cloudy like. However, since the room was too small if I tried to close the curtains I had to squeeze myself between a working desk, and a chair and I am not a big person. Bathroom included essential toiletries, bathrobe, but there were no slippers. All in all, everything was great except the room size...

Sorry to hear about your toes, but pleased that you were otherwise satisfied with the location and services provided by our team. Sounds like you were accommodated in one of the few single rooms which are indeed smaller than our regular guest rooms. We try to allocate more spacious rooms to our guests, whenever the occupancy gives us more flexibility.

We've stayed in this hotel from the 25th till the 27th of October. We changed our booking (arriving and leaving one day earlier), which went verry easy. Had a comfortable room on the 8th floor, with a nice kingsize bed. The hotel is located in the old part of the city centre. The newer part is easy accessible making use of the metro, which is located only 100meters from the hotel. Had a nice cocktail in the bar, which was far to expensive (same problem in every hotel i guess), but in a good ambiance with live music every night. The breakfast costed € 19,-; it was very complete with bread, pancakes, fresh baken eggs, champagn and nice caffee. We would go there again!

Located in the Old Town of Berlin, this hotel was very nice. We had a spacious room on the 8th floor overlooking the rooftops. Comfy king bed with duvet. There are 4 computers in the lobby which was convenient for us. We had a fab breakfast buffet and then had a light dinner in the bar that night. You can walk to Checkpoint Charlie and the Brandenburg Gate from here and there is a small grocery store nearby for snacks. Staff was very helpful with directions.

We used a diamond suite upgrade and they placed us in an executive suite. In the living area, they brought in 2 rollaway beds for my kids. In the work area (between living and bedroom), they provided a rollaway crib. Finally we had a large bed and sitting area in The bedroom-not to mention a huge walk-in closet. Lounge area.

Just got back from a family half term break in Berlin. We had 3 nights at the Hilton and have to say it was one of the best hotels that we have stayed in for a while. First class service from all staff who cannot do enough to help you. Great rooms and the pool (which we had to ourselves on three occasions) was lovely too. On top of all this it has to be one of the best locations to base yourself from in Berlin.
Thank you to all at the Hilton - I hope we have the opportunity to return.

Stayed here as a young couple (20-22yr old) for an Xmas break from 26th of December to the 29th. Hotel is amazing. Room are beautiful and completely worth the money. Ideal location we walked everywhere. Some beautiful places to eat close by. Ate in the restaurant adjoined to the hotel.. Not worth the money too fancy!! Used the spa/pool everyday both lovely. Did the couples spa treatment.. Massage, chocolate massage & something else. Lovely but chocolate massage was a bit too much!! Never laughed so much in my life though. Drank at the bar every evening before dining out, drinks are ridiculously expensive as well as bar food paid €63 after we arrived for two burgers and one pint of larger and and Malibu and cranberry was crazy.

Any plans for this year's holidays yet? Glad you enjoyed your stay with us last year and of course we would love to see you back with us! By the way, you should try our Mark Brandenburg restaurant next time - it is really not too fancy and offers very tasty regional and seasonal specialties made with fresh local produce.
