“Watch out for the cyclists”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

Quite an unspoilt spot in the centre of Berlin, not overly cultivated. But do watch out for the cycles, this goes for the pavements in Berlin as well as they have designated cycle lanes. In the morning rush hour there were 19 cyclists for every walker, and those usually had dogs, they wiz around fast so be alert and keep out of the way!

Stayed in hotel situated in the Tiergarten, very nice to walk through, very clean and extensive grounds to meander through.

“Great Park”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

This park is huge. There is so much to see as you walk around the peaceful garden. It was particularly cold and rainy the day we were in the garden, but, our children enjoyed running around the park and stopped at all the statues and structures to see what they were all about. I could see it being a much more enjoyable experience if it was warmer.

“There are bunnies!”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

Huge park used as a hunting ground by the royal family back in the 1700s. It's huge, spacious, and green. Epic to lay out when the sun is out. You might even see bunnies.

“Peace in the Midst of Change”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

The Tiergarten is Berlin's largest public park. The city is undergoing extensive renovation, which will continue for the next five to ten years. Cranes and building machinery are everywhere and this area provides a welcomed respite. There are paths to stroll or bike and benches to sit and contemplate. The maps are well-indicated and the paths well-kept and litter-free. I particularly enjoyed the Rose garden with statuary and lavender beds. The bridges over the River Spree were also perfect photo opportunities. It is worthwhile and easy to walk from the start to the Siegessaule then continue to the Reichstag and Brandenburger Gates. Spending a few hours here will also give you a better understanding of the city as opposed to simply visiting the urban areas. Berlin is an interesting city and if you travel there, the Tiergarten is a must!
