Great walk with a mix of graffiti ranging from awe inspiring artwork to drab standard graffiti and defaced pieces, whilst this seems to irritate many the constant change and development makes it contemporary and ever relevant.

Definitely one of the best things we did in Berlin

Highly recommended place to observe the artwork and go for a nice stroll. The bad part that I didn't like was how some of the artwork had graffiti over them.

Visit in the late afternoon/early evening so there is better lighting when taking your pictures.

Free admission.

It's really interesting to see such a long stretch of the wall, to try and get an idea what it was like having a city separated like Berlin was. And the paintings on the walls are great to see too.

However loads of people have decided that they think its ok to deface the whole thing with graffiti. Not interesting graffiti with social or political messages, but things like their name and the year, or 'one direction'.

Some of the historical significance of this wall feels lost by its re-painting. An open air gallery of street art should either value its cumulative years of graffiti, whether aesthetically pleasing or not, or else protect the works in their original state. That said, it is a wonderful collection of murals and made for an interesting few hours. There is no information about the artists unfortunately, but we missed out on a free walking tour which may have supplied that. There is also a baffling beach bar at the end (complete with more street art, sand and jerk chicken stalls) which made the area feel nicely eccentric. Well worth the trip out east.

Two years have passed since our previous visit. And the place has changed. Not for the better, I'm afraid. There's so much graffity covering the original paintings, many of them just by random visitors who find it more important to leave their names and sometimes ideas. To be honest, to me it was disappointing to see it. It's still an important and relevant place, still a MUST SEE, but it should have been better kept and preserved.
