I was glad to finally get to see this monument. The mix of art and history is moving. So strange to think that the wall is not that high, but just high enough that it's impossible to see the other side. Imposing.

If you come from the Ostbhanhof, there are only places to eat and go to the washroom in the train station (the cafe Players was surprisingly okay). You can easily start at one metro stop and then follow the wall to the metro stop at the other end.

I definitely recommend walking along the East Side Gallery.

If you are hunting the still remaining parts of the Berlin wall, this is absolutely a MUST see area. Great illustrations and art on the wall.
Remember the famous kissing picture.

A couple of hours well spent. One side of the wall has been painted by professionals and has some very beautiful and moving paintings. The other has been left for everyone to paint on but is still interesting to look at. We walked down one side and then the other on the way back. It's accessible by the S-bahn and there are lots of cafes and restaurants at the end of it.

A long stretch of the wall alongside the Spee river is decorated with murals depicting the tragity and hope of Berliners .Unfortunately the great pictures are greatly diminished due to the arrogance and perthetic needs of tourists tagging all over them.

Beautiful art. Very cool to see all those murals done on what's left of Berlin Wall. A lot of variety and different styles on display.
