One month turned out to be not enough lead time to get into a group tour so we splurged on a private one. At 200 Euros this is an expense not to be taken lightly but our family thoroughly enjoyed the visit. In particular, both our sons (12 and 15) were very positive, which is saying something.
Our guide gave us a thorough but very well paced tour that gave us insights into both the building itself and the art displayed there. He was very knowledgable about both and was happy to answer our questions. We had specified an English-language tour and that aspect was also flawless.
The venue is really extraordinary and an attraction in its own right. The art is thoroughly contemporary which may not be everyone's cup of tea [be honest with yourself!] We happen to be interested in this and, while not admiring every single piece, certainly found a lot that was visually captivating, ingenious, and thought-provoking.
All in all, a definite highlight of our visit to Berlin.
