“Slow start but staff made up for it”
Reviewed August 14, 2014

We arrived at Hotel Adlon and were so impressed by the location directly outside the Brandenburger Gate! We were greeted warmly at the front desk but unfortunately our room was not yet ready. So we were offered a coffee in the lobby bar while we waited. After 40 minutes I check with the front desk again and the room was still not ready. So they spoke with a supervisor and found a room for us. When we got to the room it was a smoking room which we specifically requested a Non-smoking room. So back down stairs we went. There was no other room available so we decided to do some sight seeing while they found us a room. When we got back we were informed that we were being upgraded to a suite for our inconvenience. This was very nice and something to be expected at a 5 star hotel with a reputation such as Hotel Adlon Kempinski. So we were escorted to the new room. When we got there the room had no power. A technician was called and a power board was broken. So we were taken to another suite which was even nicer, with 2 bathrooms, walk in closet, living room etc. it was so nice! They really made up for all of the trouble we had to go through to just get a room. The food for breakfast was delicious and there were so many different food stations, from custom omelets, cheese station, pastries, pancakes, French toast, fruits, cereals and granolas, cold cuts, salmon and caviar, and champagne. Breakfast is very expensive but was worth it. Also the restaurant overlooking the Brandenburger Gate had very delicious food was also quit expensive. But that is to be expected at a 5 star hotel. Also the gym was very nice. It was small but all hotel gyms are small. But they had bottles of water and towels available and there were several treadmills, bikes and weight machines, plus free weights. Overall the hotel was great and the service was excellent. This is the only hotel we would stay at if and when we return to Berlin.

Have just returned from staying at this fantastic hotel for three nights and could not fault it. Helpful, friendly, happy staff. The location is perfect for exploring Berlin. Steps away from train station and bus stops.
We were celebrating my husbands birthday and the hotel kindly had a lovely birthday cake waiting in our room on arrival.

Hope to stay at this truly 5 star hotel again.

I was looking for an upmarket classic hotel with a great lobby to stay at in Berlin. My clued-in german friends recommended me to stay at Adlon as the top option and it was great. Located next to the Brandenburg gates It looks and feels like it's been a part of Berlin but in fact it was impeccably reconstructed after bombing. Atmospheric, lively and fun, it blends classic form but yet feels very current. Rooms, food, service were all superb. Loved the lobby and casual outdoor cafe.

We had the most welcoming experience and found the staff really helpful and friendly. This was our first weekend away and at 16 my god-daughter was made to feel like a young adult. The food and service in the restaurant was very good. We did not have breakfast as preferred to wander out to local cafés. The pool and spa was enjoyable too. The room was spacious and we had everything we needed. My one comment is that the hair dryer should be used in the main bedroom rather than the bathroom and therefore a power point and mirror would be a good idea. Thank you to all the staff at the Adlon for a lovely stay

Awesome location and the ambience is superb.
But everything else does not meet the requirement of a "luxury" hotel.
First, there are rows of customers with complaints at the front desk. (from "I didn't get a wake up call that I requested" to "I never got the amenities that I asked for so I came down myself")
Second, you have to walk through the fabulous lobby with people enjoying their evening cocktails to get to your room to the fitness center. Who wants to walk through such place when all sweaty and yucky?
I recommend staying at another hotel. Don't be fooled by the outside.

Had a really nice stay in this hotel. The staff and especially the concierge here are all very well trained and helpful. The rooms are very spacious they also have a very nice fitness centre. The breakfasts are expensive and unfortunately charge over the top prices for anything extra.

We had the good fortune to stay at the Adlon Hotel in Berlin which is located at the Brandenburg Gate.
The Hotel is magnificent, the Staff is friendly and very professional, and the food is without comparison.
The Concierge group was extremely helpful and knowledgeable, they made the difference for us to be able to experience Berlin as a Berliner!!
We will definitely return!!!

Room Tip: Ask for rooms that face the Brandenburg Gate, if not directly, on the side. The views are wonderful.
