Let's say: pay tv - 19€ a day. wi-fi costs 19€ per day, thay call it speed connection, but it was like 0.3mb\s. They provide free wi-fi in the rooms with speed 0.01mb/s and it logs off every 15 mins
It's ridiculous in 21st century, especially when you can have really good wifi connection for free if you just step outside the hotel.
Also night superviser is probably "too Grand" for his own customers.

We stayed here with friends on a 4 day break in this magnificent city and were impressed with the location, standard and service. Our room was a junior suite ..very quiet, well equipped and very comfortable. Staff were friendly, attentive and knowledgable, and the concierge was helpful in our sightseeing exploits and choosing good local restaurants. Breakfast was delicious buffet style with eggs etc to order and taken in the very pleasant adjoining cafe/bistro restaurant.

Stayed in the Kempinski for three nights really thought at tghe cost it was worth it. The staff were great and always very helpful whenever we had questions. Location amazing right in the heart of Berlin.

This hotel has definitely seen its best days. Rooms and public spaces are outdated; no free internet in the rooms. I don't know the prices they charge (paid by the company) - but I saw some discounted rate about 100 euros. For this price the hotel is okay but I would not pay any more. I'd rather add another 100 euros and go to Ritz-Carlton.

Positives:
- good location (for shopping especially) & service
- nice breakfast (but that's normal in Berlin)

My wife and I loved Berlin. Snow all around and a very "Christmasy" atmosphere. We decided to change our flights so we could stay one more night and booked a room at the Kempinski.

The problems started the minute we trudged in from the snow and walked into the lobby to check in.

The hotel itself is very well decorated and has a very luxurious feel, but that feeling was immediately ruined the moment we went to check in.

The staff are condescending and pretentious. The only reason we could even fathom for this was that maybe we didn't look our best (being that we had been out in the elements for the entire day) or the staff didn't enjoy working there? It's all speculation on our part but whatever the reason for an abysmal reception reflects very badly on the Kempinski Group.

Not to say all the staff were that way but the concierge was awful and his staff obviously were following his lead. Needless to say the only person tipped that night was the nice gentleman that made sure we had a bottle of wine in our room.

We had paid for a suite and the first room they took us to was not a suite. Although the room was nice we called the Front Desk and asked for the room we paid for. We were then taken to the suite we originally booked. The way this was dealt with by the staff was terrible.

The suite was lovely. Cosy reception room with flat screen TV, Comfortable seating and a very well put together room in general. The bedroom was spacious with a large bed with two mattresses instead of one complete one. When we called reception to ask for a proper mattress we waited 4 or so hours for them to replace it. Obviously this didn't help with our review as at this point we didn't bother calling reception anymore. It would have made things worse. Beside all that the room, all in all exactly what you would expect, but since our reception was so sullied it spoiled the whole experience for us.

We would never tell anyone to stay away from anywhere based on a single experience, and we are usually quite understanding but this was our experience and hopefully someone within the Kempinski Group will make sure this doesn't happen again.

Memory foam mattresses. They had me at that. But otherwise, a nice hotel with a historic feel. We did not use the spa/pool facilities, but we did have a look and they looked good. The location is good as you are not far from transport hubs. Fairly obviously, shopping is not a problem either.

We stayed in this hotel about ten years ago and wanted to return, so didn't research it on Tripadvisor this time - probably should have!

The hotel itself is wonderful - great location, very helpful staff, good amenities. We had a superior room and stayed for five nights. The room was big, with a super bathroom (two basins) and even a statue in an alcove - impressive. The pool is wonderful and you can get there via a lift on each floor so you can go in your costume/towelling robe and change in your room - very civilised.

However, there were a couple of things which were really unacceptable for me. The main one was the air conditioning. This was a simple 'on/off' switch and it barely made any difference when it was on. There were leaflets in the room asking you to keep the windows and curtains closed during the day, but the rooms were way too hot. I asked for a fan and was brought one straight away, which did help somewhat.

There was bottled water in our room on the first day and this was replenished on day two, but not on the other days. Likewise the shampoo/shower gel was replaced daily, but the conditioner/ body lotion was not. Very small gripes in the wider scheme of things, but you do expect consistency when you pay so much for a room.

I also object to being charged 19 Euros per day to use the internet. Many hotels offer this as standard nowadays and to pay over £100 for our stay just to use the Internet seemed totally unacceptable.

We do like this hotel, but the Internet charges and the pathetic air conditioning means that we will stay elsewhere on our next visit to Berlin.

Shame.
