Owner description: Located just east of the Brandenburg Gate, this town square and its beautiful garden serve as the gateway to old Berlin.

With all the buildings surrounding the Brandenburg Gate plus a lot of tourists, it can get claustrophobically crowded at times.
Don't get me wrong, you must see it if you come to Berlin, but you'll only stay there for a little while and move on, cause there's not much to do/see.

starting a site seeing Journey from here is actually a pretty good place to begin, it has the Brandenburger Tor there, all tours start from this point too, it has it busy moments, but it is also rich with history, with some information boards surroundimg the platz gives you a small idea as too what the importance of the Pariser Platz was, there is always many things goimg on

Many negative reviews have been written about this location. And yes it can be full of tourists, but take a breather, sit down get a coffee and watch the world go by. Great for people watching.

There's so much history surrounding this There's so much history surrounding this square and I think it is pretty much hard to avoid not coming here as the Brandenburg Gate (which is a must) is situated here.

Aside from the Brandenburg gate there are the American and French Embassies and the DZ bank. If you want to know a bit more about the history of the square I would personally recommend one of the Sandemans free walking tours of Berlin as they will tell you stuff and show you things that you would otherwise miss. For example, the DZ bank has got a huge and very impressive whale sculpture that engulfs a huge part of the building and is well worth a look.

There are a lot of people dressed up wanting you to have photos with them in the square (primarily around the Brandenburg Tor) but my favourite had to be the soldiers. They were really funny and I got some fab pics with them.

As someone else has said though, be careful of the beggars that ask you to sign a petition for deaf schools. They ask for a donation and it's basically a scam. Luckily we only gave them €1!

It-f you're in need of a sit down and/or a drink there's also a Starbucks here. Enjoy!

The Pariser platz is worth a visit, but there just isn't much too see other than the Branderburg gate or Hotel Adlon. A quarter-hour visit is long enough, to be honest. There's a starbucks at the end of the square if you want to sit down and get a cup of coffee. You can also walk down Unter den Linden to get a bite. I'd recommend getting there before ~10-11ish if you want to avoid the large touristy crowds.
