“Excellent!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 24, 2013

A brilliant selection of European paintings from many periods from medieval to 18th century. There is a very good representation of Flemish and German art, lots of Italian but not too much Spanish or British. Well worth a few hours!

“Fantastic art; shame about the staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 19, 2013 via mobile

We were blown away by the 13-16 century paintings, but found the gallery staff incredibly officious. It seems you're allowed to wear a jacket in the gallery, but you're not allowed to take it off and carry it. We also disliked the way we were herded out of the place as soon as the announcement that the gallery was closing was made - 15 minutes before the posted closing time.

“Great mixture of art”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2013

I enjoyed my visit to this museum as it had a good mixture of German, Dutch, Flemish, French and Italian art. The museum was quite large, but not too overwhelming.

“Stunning”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2013

The works on display here are simply stunning. Titian, Boticelli, Durer and even one piece by Sir Henry Raeburn. We spent a good 4 hours in the gallery having booked the previous day but when the gallery opened for the day the were only about 10 people waiting to enter ( by contrast Museum Island was very very busy). Staff were friendly and I was delighted to see them challenge some very unruly school kids to preserve the enjoyment of others.

“Great Museum”

It is a rare occurrence when we spend 3 hours in a museum but the Picture Gallery was worth the time, especially when using the audio guide. The Dutch paintings were our favorites.
