“Blissfully uncrowded”
Reviewed April 26, 2013

This was our second visit to this delightful gallery which is well laid out and spacious. There is a good collection of Netherlandish paintings, some great Cranachs ,Holbeins and Gainsboroughs. It is well labelled and a pleasant place to spend three to four hours. The audioguide is superb.

“Not huge, but some significant paintings”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

This is no Louvre or Prado, but it has excellent coverage of Northern European paintings, of course (Cranach for instance is very well represented), and worthwhile collections from all sites and eras, with a sprinkling of major paintings (eg Titian's Venus and the organist, Rembrandt's Susanna bathing). The separation into two sub-collections (north and south of the Alps) is quite illuminating. The modern building is beautifully light and airy, calming and well lit for viewing.

“Too much to visit in two hours”
Reviewed April 8, 2013

We liked to visit the Picture Gallery. We begun the visit with the italian school, that is big enouh to put us tired. When we arrived at the flemish shool we were already tired and a little tired and saturated. I think it is better to visit this gallery in two times.

“One of the finest collections of European art”
Reviewed April 7, 2013

If you are a fan of old masters (13th to 18th century), you cannot miss this precious gem in Berlin! One can easily spend 3-4 hours here and the audio tour guide is very useful. A must see - you will not be disappointed!
