“Great view but thats about it”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

The view over Berlin is good, the city is very flat and you can see for miles. Its worth a visit just to look over the city. It can get busy so expect to wait a while to get up and down

“Berlin landmark”
Reviewed March 26, 2013

No matter where you stand in Berlin, the Berliner Fernsehturm can be seen. We did not visit the top of it, as the weather was very cloudy and would affect the vision. But impressive to see this tower from bottom.

“Unique structure”
Reviewed March 25, 2013 via mobile

Some people may say that it sticks like a sore thumb in the middle of the Berlin's skyline, but I think it is a not very sober but very interesting and catching structure.

“Boring ”
Reviewed March 24, 2013 via mobile

I thought it would be a fantastic thing to do in Berlin, ended up wasting 12 euro. Was nothing big to see, and it was filled with people! Spent around 20 minutes in line to buy a ticket, then two hours later, I was in line to go up in the lift, ended up leaving after 15 minutes since there Was nothing special..

“Good View, Shame about the meal !”
Reviewed March 22, 2013

Went to the restaurant at the top of TV Tower for a meal with my partner on Thursday 7th March 2013, after spending five fabulous days in Berlin.

Firstly on arrival at the Tower (the meal was booked at 19.30h) we had to leave our coats at the bottom of the tower (as we told by the lady in a rather terse tone and I quote “it is not allowed”) and therefore ended up carrying a lot of personal items (phone, glasses & camera etc) up the tower in our hands. (Which was a bit cumbersome to say the least) had to pay the extra €12 on top of the cost of the meal to get to the top in the lift, although this was expected.

First impression were of total confusion, there was a large party of people who had obviously booked a buffet in the restaurant, as a result we ended up being ’mixed together’ with this group and being shown to a private area at the bottom of the tower for drinks, and when we tried to find out way to the lifts nobody seemed to know anything (I suppose we should have kept our mouth shut, drunk the Buck Fizz and gone with the flow!)

Anyway eventually we got to the lift and we ascended to the top, we were met by a lady who took our reservation details and were told we go up to the restaurant, our table was 2-1, went meant nothing to us ? (The restaurant is one floor above the observation level) On entering the restaurant there was no-one there to meet us, we started to look for the table without success, but eventually a waitress did appear and we were shown to our table.

The view from top is, as other contributors have said fantastic, it was a clear evening and you could see for miles (or is that kilometres). The waitress who was attending our table was excellent, she very personable, efficient and spoke excellent English, my only complaint about her (and it was not her fault) was that she appears to looking after too many tables and therefore had very little time to spend at our table(she was also clearing and setting tables – a very busy lady !)

The meal itself was very average, I wouldn’t describe it any better than that, I had the veal and my partner had the fish, starters were very look warm. One point worth mentioning is the menu, the layout of the menu was totally confusing, it was in at least six or seven languages all on the same page and was difficult to read to say the least. (Now I know there will be customers of many different nationalities all eating in the restaurant and they have to cater for everyone, but why not separate menus for different nationalities?) Lastly there wasn’t a massif amount of choice on the menu either.

Overall I would say it’s defiantly worth a visit to the observation level, it is a bit expensive at €12, but the view is fanatic and if you don’t go you’ll regret it, the same cannot be said about the restaurant it’s very expensive and very average, and I wouldn’t bother.

Lastly I suppose our chief criticism would be at the level of service, which wasn’t good. We were looking for a special evening on last night in Berlin, and we didn’t get it. The waitress tried her best, but she had too many tables to look after. There should have been someone to meet us and show us to our table at the beginning, this is pretty basic customer service.
