Nice place to get a 360 view of the city. The inside of the curch is also worth the entrance fee of 7?. I found the crypt especially interesting.

Thank Thomas S

The cathedral is just beautiful, inside and out. We sort of accidentally found ourselves climbing to the dome balcony (long story), but it was well worth it. The climb is broken up nicely by either hallways, or convenient places to stop and catch a breather the entire way up. The view was just wonderful, but it was also interesting to see some of the statues up close instead of just from the ground.

This is a must see when in Berlin, such a beautiful cathedral.
We went in in the evening time, the main cathedral space is beautiful with spectacular ceilings - there was even a choir practicing! The most memorable part of course was climbing the 267 steps up to the Dome balcony.... completely worth it though!!Stunning views across Berlin, you can walk 360 around the Dome and take in all the views.
Make sure you go!

I suggest this as a first stop because even though I did research on the internet before hand to find the hours open to the public; when I got there, it had closed due to an event taking place earlier in the day. I was only able to step inside the door and take one photo and of course the outside... Wished I had gotten there earlier.

This Berlin Cathedral or Berliner Dom is really situated very well, on the island, between the main course of the river Spree and its estuary,Spreekanal. There are only a few cathedrals in the world, with such position.
From the Dom, if we look to the northwest, we can perceive, some very important objects. Here we have, Altes Museum, that is the home to the Collection of Classical Antiquities( Greek art) and also Etruscans and Romans art. This museum was built in style of Neoclassical architecture.
Further, we have an Egyptian Museum. Also, gorgeous building of National Gallery is located on this island, some to the east, from the Egyptian Museum.
In addition to the previous, we have a Museum of Islamic Art and beautiful Pergamonmuseum more to the northwest.
When we came on this site, we first hanged around the magnificent hotel Radisson Blue. In the interior of this hotel, I was stunned with view of huge glass column, filled with water and different sort of fishes, that reached almost twenty to thirty meters in height.
When we got out the hotel, we have taken some cups of coffee and enjoyed in the perfect sunny day, with pleasant view at the water of the Spree and at wonderful cathedral.
This Berliner Dom is the largest church in the city, and it serves as a vital center for the Protestant church of Germany. It attracts a lot of turists, year after year, either Germans or foreigners. The Christian religious tradition, here is presented through various perfomances.
I experienced also rather spectacular view of the city of Berlin, from the outside of the cathedral.
In my point of view,it is a genuine masterpiece of engineers and architects.
