“Pergamon gate, but otherwise under renovations...”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

Pergamon gate was amazing, but other than that the museum was under renovations and so there wasn't much to see. Would pay the reduced 4.5 price to see Pergamon (entry comes with free audio guide) but other than that better visiting better museums such as Jewish Memorial, Palace of Tears (both of which are free), or those amazing ones in Paris (which I visited 3 weeks earlier).

“Lots of interesting pieces but not our favorite”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

We were told that this is perhaps the best museum in Berlin and I think it very much depends on the person visiting as we were not that amazed. I believe the museum is only about half open due to construction so that was disappointing. There are thousands of little things to see in this museum but unless you are specifically a Greek or Roman history buff, you may find it a bit boring. There are true masterpieces in the museum and we are glad that we went but we won't be visiting again most likely.

“Amazing historic ruins”
Reviewed April 18, 2013

I really enjoyed visiting the Pergamon museum. I am not always that enthusiastic about visiting some museums but the pergamon was really interesting and had some amazing ruins from Roman times as well as the fantastic Ishtar gate of Babylon. It's pretty impressive what they've managed to reconstruct within the museum. If you have don't have much time and want to visit at least one of the museums within 'museum Insel' then this would be the one to choose.

“What we saw was very good but much of the museum is closed”
Reviewed April 16, 2013

Pergamon is the most famous museum in Berlin, and it has some amazing things to see. The alter of Pergamon is huge, and you feel like you're transported to another place- the same can be said for the Ishtar gate. The museum includes audio guides in the ticket price which is nice, and the audio guide was very good.

There were just a few more negative points- more than half of the museum is currently shut down, and although the most famous pieces are still available to be seen, it is currently a pretty small exhibit. It would be nice if they lower the price until the whole museum is back open. Also, there are not enough lockers for everyone to put their bags in, and the few staff that we interacted with (a lady at the desk whom I asked about lockers, and a security guard) were not very polite or friendly at all.
