Owner description: THE STORY OF BERLIN is the interactive museum of the capital. Spread over 6.000 square meters visitors can explore 800 years of Berlin history. In 23 theme rooms – each of them designed individually and equipped with modern multimedia technology – everyone can experience everyday life of the people of Berlin during different eras. One highlight of the exhibition is a guided tour through an original nuclear bomb shelter from the Cold War below the Kurfurstendamm which still can be used by 3.592 persons in case of an emergency. We offer a special search game called "Pinky & Fox". Carrying a pencil and the treasure map, kids go on a discovery tour through the museum. On request older children get our STORY-Quiz leaflet with some puzzle games and thrilling details about the Berlin history.

“Interesting history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 15, 2013 via mobile

Learned a lot from this museum. There are lots of photos and written info to go with the displays. It was very educational. But the most amazing part was the nuclear shelter built at the base of the carpark in 1970 or thereabouts. Absolutely fascinating and scary stuff. The tour there was in English but you must check as it only is conducted at certain times. It is not possible to go there alone. You must join a tour and many are in the German language so do your homework first. It was very unusual but very interesting and proof that it would be best to avoid nuclear or radioactive catastrophes.

“Get yourself a broad introduction”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

This museum is a fun and "light" museum. I visited Story of Berlin on my first day and it gave a very good intro on Berlin. Covering all aspects of Berlin, don't expect great detail but go and figure out which part/aspect of Berlin you want to know more about before visiting the next attraction

“History of an amazing city”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013

We went to this museum only to see the nuclear bomb shelter which is only one of a few that were built in Berlin during the Cold War, but we found out a lot more about this fascinating place. For one, it started out as two towns, and seems to have had a split personality ever since! There is the usual history of the middle ages, the Reformation, the Enlightenment, as well as great insights into the contribution of nineteenth century Prussia to modern science and medicine, but the best bits are the accounts of WW2 and the post war period, suitably topped by the visit to a real nuclear bomb shelter. This is a chilling reminder of the recent past, especially for those too young to remember this time. Well worth visiting.

“Underground Surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 3, 2013

Very interesting story over hundreds of years of the city but the visit to the cold war bunker is the most interesting. You have to see it to try and imagine how 3600 could live there for at least 14 days. Many visual features to make it more interesting.
