Went without any preconceived ideas of what to expect, was totally blown away by the whole memorial. The stones overground have an awe all of their own. A place that said so much without uttering a single word. Went then underground to the exhibition, not for the feint hearted i have to say, the personal accounts and the room of names got me. You cannot go to Berlin and miss this, history in total action. A place that grips you and touches you so much. Exhibition is closed on Mondays.

Excellent museum that detailed the history of the Jews - life, families, persecution, WW2, and recent history. Housed in an old and amazing new abstract building coated in zinc, it has some excellent displays - particularly the drawings from the ghettos and the Fallen Leaves room which is a sensory and emotional overload. One museum you must visit whilst in Berlin.

This place is breath-taking! I was blown away by all of the the exhibitions. They are powerful and very interesting, while the fascinating architecture of this museum adds to it's character and reflects the purpose and meaning of this absolutely beautiful place.

We really enjoyed this. The architecture is fab and the artifacts that are linked to personal stories are really interesting. We went early in the morning and were there before opening, so it was quite quiet; quiet is what you want here! Some of the 'voids' were really moving. They have a huge collection and after a few ours we did pass through some sections.

Many people are impressed with the architecture of the Jewish Museum in Berlin. The architect does succeed in making the lower floors of the museum disconcerting, but there is almost no physical connection to the rest of the museum. While I found the exhibits in the permanent collection interesting, you must go through the entire exhibit in order to exit. This can be dangerous and discourages detailed study of specific items.

What can I say about the temporary second floor exhibit that tries to explain Judaism to non Jews without mentioning some of the basic precepts ie. The unity of Nature and God, the Covenant and the separation between holy and everyday life and experiences? I guess the only thing is, that it is weak and counter productive. Or maybe it was designed by a non-Jew.
