It's nice to escape the Kudamm hordes, by just walking south a block. This restaurant is across from the Berlin Mark Hotel and next to the Resident Hotel on Meineckestrasse, just a short walk south from Kudamm. It was relaxed and not even half full (although I was there at about 7:45pm on a Tuesday night), but still with Gemütlichkeit. The service was good and not rushed at all, with no problem hanging out to finish a second beer after dinner. The menu is traditional German, and the atmosphere is, too. The other patrons were all Germans, so a good sign. I had a pork Schnitzel that was quite good, with nice potatoes, but the vegetable medley was a little overcooked. Good bread (can you get bad bread in Germany?). A large and a small Berliner Pilsner with it, for 17 euro, a great value in Berlin Mitte.
